What is the time limit for Pedagogy students to reimburse tuition fees and living expenses in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 3, Article 9 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP stipulating the recovery of reimbursement costs as follows:

- Within 30 days from the date of receiving a decision from a competent state agency, students or their families are responsible for contacting the reimbursement agency to complete the reimbursement procedures.
The maximum period to fulfill the reimbursement obligation is 4 years from the date the pedagogy student receives the reimbursement notice.
In cases where students or their families delay fulfilling the reimbursement obligation beyond the stipulated time, they must bear the maximum interest rate applied to non-term deposits as regulated by the State Bank of Vietnam for overdue reimbursements. If the State Bank does not specify a maximum interest rate for non-term deposits, they must bear the interest rate applicable to non-term deposits of the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade at the time of fulfilling the reimbursement obligation.
Thus, within 30 days from the date of receiving a decision from a competent state agency, pedagogy students must repay tuition and living expenses.

Based on Article 6 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP stipulating the reimbursement of support costs:

- Subjects required to reimburse support costs for tuition and living expenses include:
a) Pedagogy students who benefited from the policy but did not work in the education sector within 2 years from the date of receiving the graduation recognition decision;
b) Pedagogy students who benefited from the policy and worked in the education sector but did not meet the required working time as stipulated in point a, clause 2 of this Article;
c) Pedagogy students who benefited from the policy but switched to another field of study, voluntarily dropped out, did not complete the training program, or were expelled for disciplinary reasons.

- Pedagogy students temporarily suspending their studies or being temporarily suspended from studies will not receive support policies during the suspension period or temporary suspension.
- Pedagogy students who suspend their studies due to illness, accidents, retake, or repeat (not more than once) or suspend for reasons not due to disciplinary actions or voluntary dropout, as reviewed by the teacher training institution, can resume their studies under the regulations and continue to receive support policies stipulated in this Decree but the support duration shall not exceed the maximum time to complete the training program.
Thus, pedagogy students who voluntarily drop out are required to repay tuition and living expenses.

Based on Article 8 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP stipulating reimbursement costs and methods of calculating reimbursement costs:

What is the maximum duration for support of tuition and living expenses for pedagogy students in Vietnam?
Based on Article 4 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP stipulating the levels and duration of support:
Levels and duration of support
1. Levels of support:
a) Pedagogy students receive state support for tuition fees equivalent to the tuition fee charged by the teacher training institution where they are studying;
b) Pedagogy students receive state support of 3.63 million VND/month for living expenses during their school term.
2. The duration of support for tuition fees and living expenses is based on the actual number of months spent studying at the school according to the regulations, but not exceeding 10 months/academic year. In case of teaching based on a credit-based system, the teacher training institution may convert the support level to suit the credit-based system. The total support funds for the entire course under the credit-based system shall not exceed the support level specified for the course under the academic year system.
Thus, the maximum duration for support of tuition fees and living expenses for pedagogy students is 10 months/academic year.
Additionally, in the case of teaching based on a credit-based system, the teacher training institution may convert the support level to suit the credit-based system. The total support funds for the entire course under the credit-based system shall not exceed the support level specified for the course under the academic year system.
