Based on Subsection 1, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate and college levels for various disciplines and professions in the fields of architectural technology, construction, mechanics, electricity, electronics, communications, and chemistry (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) issued together with Circular 45/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the technical control and automation engineering technology at the technical college level is described as follows:

The technical control and automation engineering technology at the technical college level is a profession specializing in research, implementation, operation, maintenance, and repair of control and automation systems for production processes/machines in enterprises, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Technical control and automation engineering technology is related to almost all fields of modern science and technology with the aim of ensuring the maintenance of technological processes and enhancing productivity, quality, and reducing manual labor.

The profession ensures quick, accurate control to achieve high efficiency with complex, precise, and standardized production lines; ensures high safety for people and equipment according to technical requirements, security, and safety regulations.

To pursue this profession, workers must have good health and professional ethics, possess adequate specialized knowledge and skills corresponding to job positions. They must be able to work and resolve tasks proactively, communicate, and coordinate work in teams, organize and manage production processes, and mentor lower-level workers as per set standards.

Minimum knowledge volume: 2,500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits).

- Install control and automation equipment and systems;

- Operate and maintain control and automation systems;

- Program and simulate control and automation systems on computers;

- Administer control and automation systems;

- Provide consultation services for technical control and automation engineering technology;

- Conduct business in technical control and automation engineering technology services.

What are the skill requirements for graduates in the technical control and automation engineering technology at the technical college level in Vietnam?

Based on Subsection 3, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 45/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the skill requirements for graduates in the technical control and automation engineering technology at the technical college level are as follows:

- Use basic information technology proficiently according to regulations;

- Skillfully draw and assemble basic electric-electronic circuits and controllers with peripheral devices;

- Design, install, adjust, and operate automatic control systems for small and medium industrial production, as well as residential systems;

- Skillfully operate and maintain power supply systems; lighting systems; grounding systems; industrial electrical safety, and security systems;

- Skillfully operate and maintain pneumatic control and hydraulic control systems;

- Program control systems using PLCs, microcontrollers;

- Identify, classify, select, and skillfully use sensors, measurement, and control devices;

- Operate smart city, smart home systems, and industrial communication network standards;

- Use smartphones to control automatic devices;

- Perform maintenance tasks, install, and set basic parameters of systems;

- Develop marketing plans, organize customer conferences;

- Check and evaluate work results to ensure processes and standards at business, production facilities;

- Analyze and evaluate business activities results;

- Prepare samples, reports, internal, and common business contracts;

- Use computers, spreadsheets, Internet for text processing, presentations;

- Skillfully use common specialized tools;

- Communicate effectively through writing, presenting, discussing, and handling situations;

- Apply occupational safety and environmental hygiene measures according to regulations;

- Use basic foreign languages proficiently, achieve level 2/6 in the Vietnam Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign languages in professional work of the field and profession.
