What is gender equality?

In other words, gender equality is when men and women are treated fairly and without discrimination based on gender. They hold equal positions and roles in the family and society and have the same opportunities for education, work, and personal development.
Gender equality is an important goal to build a fair and progressive society where everyone is respected and has the opportunity to reach their potential.
Example: In a gender-equal society, women will have the same opportunities as men to hold leadership positions, receive fair pay, and not face discrimination in the family.

What are the fines for administrative violations in the field of gender equality related to education and training in Vietnam?
Based on Article 9 of Decree 125/2021/ND-CP, regulations on administrative violations in the field of gender equality related to education and training are handled as follows:
- A warning is issued for acts of promoting, inciting, or preventing others from attending school or learning to enhance knowledge due to gender reasons.
- A fine ranging from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND is imposed for acts of forcing or obstructing others from choosing subjects, fields of study, or training professions due to gender reasons.
- A fine ranging from 2,000,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND is imposed for acts of promoting or forcing others to drop out of school due to gender reasons.
- A fine ranging from 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND is imposed for:
+ Organizing and forcing a group of people to drop out of school due to gender reasons;
+ Denying admission to individuals who qualify for training courses due to gender or due to pregnancy, childbirth, or raising young children.
- A fine ranging from 10,000,000 VND to 15,000,000 VND is imposed for acts stipulating different training or admission ages for males and females.
- A fine ranging from 15,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND is imposed for organizing career education, compiling, disseminating textbooks, curricula with gender-biased content.
- Remedial measures:
+ Restore the legal rights of the individual who was infringed for the specified actions.
+ Amend or abolish regulations on training ages and admission ages that discriminate based on gender for the specified actions.
+ Amend, replace, or correct textbooks, curricula with gender-biased content. If not amended, replaced, or corrected, destroy materials containing gender-biased content for the specified actions.
+ Surrender illegal profits gained from conducting the specified actions.
What are regulations on gender equality in the field of education and training in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 2, Article 14 of the Gender Equality Law 2006, gender equality in the field of education and training is regulated for the following cases:
- Men and women have equal age criteria for attending school, training, and skill enhancement.
- Men and women have equal opportunities in selecting fields of study, training professions.
- Men and women have equal access to and benefit from policies on education, training, professional, and skill enhancement.
- Female officials and public employees participating in training and enhancement courses with children under thirty-six months old receive support according to the regulations of the Government of Vietnam.
