Based on Article 9 of the Regulation on Primary School Student Assessment issued with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulating the academic assessment results for primary school students as follows:
At the end of the school year, based on the process of aggregating assessment results on the learning of each subject, educational activities, and individual essential qualities and core competencies, the main teacher will:
- Assess primary school students' academic results at four levels:
+ Excellent: Students who achieve good results in all subjects and educational activities; core qualities and competencies reach good levels; the year-end periodic test scores for all subjects are 9 or higher.
+ Good: Students who do not reach the level of Excellent but have good results in all subjects and educational activities; core qualities and competencies reach good levels; the year-end periodic test scores for all subjects are 7 or higher.
+ Satisfactory: Students who do not reach the levels of Excellent or Good but have satisfactory or good results in all subjects and educational activities; core qualities and competencies reach satisfactory or good levels; the year-end periodic test scores for all subjects are 5 or higher.
+ Unsatisfactory: Students who do not belong to the above categories.
- Record comments, aggregate assessment results, and acknowledge achievements of students in the school year in the Student Report Book.
During the mid-term of semester 1, end of semester 1, mid-term of semester 2, and year-end:
- Subject teachers will based on regular assessment and periodic assessment to aggregate and record each student's educational outcome in the Class assessment Summary Sheet.

According to Article 5 of the Regulation on Primary School Student Assessment issued with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following are stipulated:
Content and method of assessment
1. Content of assessment
a) Assess the learning process, progress, and results to meet the required achievements and specific expressions of each component competency in each subject and educational activity according to the elementary education program.
b) Assess the formation and development of qualities and competencies based on the following critical qualities and core competencies:
- Critical qualities: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty, responsibility.
- Core competencies:
+) General competencies: autonomy and self-study, communication and cooperation, problem solving, and creativity.
+) Specific competencies: language, mathematics, science, technology, information technology, aesthetics, physical education.
2. Assessment methods
Some assessment methods commonly used in the student assessment process include:
a) Observation method: Teachers observe and listen to students during class activities, use observation forms, checklists, and diaries to record students' expressions as evidence for the assessment of their learning and training process.
b) Assessment through learning profiles, products, and activities: Teachers provide comments and assessments of students' work and activities to assess according to relevant assessment content.
c) Oral assessment method: Teachers interact with students through questions and answers to gather information and promptly provide feedback and assistance.
d) Written test method: Teachers use tests that include questions and exercises designed according to program requirements, in the form of multiple-choice, essay, or a combination to assess the achievement levels of educational content.
Thus, the 04 commonly used methods for assessing primary school students include:
