- Help students form and develop key qualities with specific expressions: love for nature, family, homeland; awareness of origins; appreciation for beauty and goodness and have healthy emotions; enthusiasm for learning, eagerness for labor; honesty, straightforwardness in learning and life; awareness of responsibilities towards themselves, their family, society, and the surrounding environment.

- Help students initially form general abilities, develop language skills in all areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening at a basic level: reading correctly, fluently texts; understanding the content and main information of texts; relating and comparing outside texts; writing correct spelling and grammar; writing some sentences, paragraphs, short essays (mainly narrative and descriptive essays); articulating clearly; understanding others' opinions.

Develop literary skills with the requirement to distinguish between poetry and narrative, knowing how to read poetry and stories; recognize the beauty of artistic language; have imagination, understand, and be moved by the beauty and goodness of humans and the world as expressed in literary texts.

The content of the literature subject is comprehensive, combining cultural knowledge, ethics, philosophy,... related to many other subjects and educational activities such as History, Geography, Art, Civic Education, Foreign Languages, Nature and Society, Experiential Activities,... Literature is also closely related to life; helping students be more concerned and connected with everyday life, to relate and to handle practical issues arising from reality.
