- Help students shape and develop essential qualities with specific expressions: love nature, family, and homeland; awareness of origins; love for beauty and goodness and having healthy emotions; enthusiasm for learning and working; honesty and uprightness in study and life; have a sense of responsibility for themselves, family, society, and the surrounding environment.
- Help students initially form general abilities, developing language skills in all reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills at a basic level: read correctly and fluently; understand the content and main information of the text; relate and compare outside the text; write correctly in spelling and grammar; write some sentences, paragraphs, short essays (mainly narrative and descriptive essays); speak clearly; understand what is being said.
- Develop literary capacity with the requirement to distinguish poetry and stories, know how to read poetry and stories; recognize the beauty of artistic words; have imagination, understand and be affected by the beauty and goodness of people and the world around expressed in literary texts.

Write paragraphs that express emotions and thoughts when reading a story or poem or when witnessing an event that evokes many emotions; express opinions on a simple issue in study and life; write several types of texts such as autobiographies, messages, invitations, schedules, applications, ...; initially know how to write according to a process; essays should include three parts (introduction, body, conclusion).
