What are regulations on evaluation of the training and educational performance of primary school students in Vietnam?
Article 22 of the Primary School Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulates the evaluation of the training and educational performance of primary school students as follows:
- The primary school organizes the evaluation of the educational results during the learning and training process of students according to the Regulations on the evaluation of primary school students issued by the Minister of Education and Training;
+ Organize for teachers to hand over the educational results of students at the end of the school year to the teachers of the higher grade in the following school year;
+ Implement under the direction of the Head of the Department of Education and Training in organizing the acceptance and handover of the educational results of students who have completed the primary school program to grade 6, suitable to the conditions of the schools and localities.
- Students who finish the primary school program and meet the conditions stipulated by the Minister of Education and Training will be confirmed to have completed the primary school program in their school record by the primary school principal.
- For other educational institutions implementing the general education program at the primary school level, students who finish the primary school program and meet the conditions stipulated by the Minister of Education and Training will have their completion of the primary school program confirmed in their school records by the head of the educational institution according to regulations.
Regarding students who, due to difficult circumstances, cannot attend school, who study at other institutions within the locality, or who return from abroad, the primary school principal evaluates based on regulations and confirms the completion of the primary school program if the student meets the requirements.
- Apply information technology in evaluating the training and educational performance of students according to a timetable suitable to the actual conditions of the educational institutions.
What is the maximum number of students in a class of primary schools in Vietnam?
Article 16 of the Primary School Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulates as follows:

- Students are organized into classes. Each class has no more than 35 students and is supervised by a homeroom teacher. Each inclusive class has no more than 02 students with disabilities. In special cases, the principal may arrange for additional students with disabilities in a class to ensure that all students with disabilities who need and are able to learn can attend.
In mountainous areas, remote, isolated, and especially difficult areas, composite classes may be organized. The number of students and the number of level groups in a composite class must be suitable to the teaching capabilities of the teacher and the actual conditions of the school. A composite class has no more than 02 level groups. In special cases, the competent authority will decide but the number of level groups shall not exceed 03. A composite class has no more than 15 students.
