The content and method for assessment of students in the Literacy Eradication Program according to Article 5 Circular 10/2022/TT-BGDDT are as follows:
Content and assessment methods
1. Assessment content
a) Assess the learning process, progress, and academic results of students in meeting the required achievements and specific competencies in each subject according to the Literacy Eradication Program.
b) Evaluate the formation and development of students' qualities and competencies through essential qualities and core competencies as stipulated in the Literacy Eradication Program.
2. Assessment methods
a) Assessment by observation
- Teachers observe students during classroom instruction and record their manifestations to use as evidence for assessing their learning and training process;
- Teachers provide comments and evaluations on students' products and activity results, thereby assessing students according to relevant assessment contents;
- Teachers interact with students by asking questions to gather information for providing feedback and prompt assistance;
- Teachers assess students through their self-assessments in spoken or written form and their participation in evaluating other students or groups on the completion of learning and training tasks.
b) Assessment by scores: Teachers use tests consisting of questions and exercises designed according to the required achievements of the Literacy Eradication Program in the form of multiple-choice, essay, or a combination of both to assess the achievements in education content.
There are 02 methods for assessing students in the Literacy Eradication Program as follows:

What is the regular assessment of students in the Literacy Eradication Program in Vietnam?
Regular assessment of students in the Literacy Eradication Program according to Article 6 Circular 10/2022/TT-BGDDT is as follows:
- Regular assessment of the academic content of the subjects:
+ Teachers flexibly and appropriately use assessment methods, primarily through verbal feedback indicating correct, incorrect points and ways to correct them; writing comments in students' notebooks or on their learning products when necessary, with specific measures for prompt assistance.
+ Students self-assess and participate in assessing the learning products of other students and groups during the execution of learning tasks for better learning and training.
+ For thematic study topics in the fifth semester of the Literacy Eradication Program, each student is assessed according to each thematic study, with the result of one (1) assessment chosen as the evaluation result for the cluster of thematic studies in the subject.
The assessment result for the cluster of thematic studies in the subject is counted as the result of one (1) regular assessment of that subject to be used in evaluating the academic results of the subjects.
- Regular assessment of the formation and development of qualities and competencies:
+ Teachers flexibly and appropriately use assessment methods; base on students' cognitive, behavioral, and attitudinal manifestations; compare with the required achievements of each essential quality and core competency according to the Literacy Eradication Program to give comments and provide prompt assistance.
+ Students are allowed to self-assess and participate in assessing other students and groups on the manifestations of each essential quality and core competency for self-improvement.
What is the periodic assessment of students in the Literacy Eradication Program in Vietnam?
According to Article 7 Circular 10/2022/TT-BGDDT, the periodic assessment for students in the Literacy Eradication Program is regulated as follows:
* Periodic assessment of the academic content of the subjects:
- Periodic tests
+ In each semester, each subject has 04 (four) periodic tests at appropriate times according to the implementation progress of the program, including 03 (three) tests during the semester and 01 (one) final test. The final test score is counted as twice, and the scores of the tests during the semester are counted as one.
+ The test questions for each subject are built based on the required achievements of each subject stipulated in the Literacy Eradication Program. Periodic evaluation is not conducted for thematic study clusters.
+ For Vietnamese and Math subjects, the duration of periodic tests is 70 minutes. For other subjects, the duration is 35 minutes.
+ Tests are graded on a 10-point scale. Test scores are whole numbers or decimals rounded to the first decimal place.
+ Students missing periodic tests are allowed to take make-up tests. Make-up tests are conducted each semester. Students who do not take make-up tests receive a score of 0 (zero) for that test.
- At the end of each semester, teachers base on regular assessments and required achievements, specific manifestations of each subject's competencies to evaluate students according to the following levels:
+ Excellent: Fulfill learning requirements well and frequently show specific manifestations of subject competencies.
+ Completed: Fulfill learning requirements and show specific manifestations of subject competencies.
+ Not completed: Fail to meet some learning requirements or do not show specific manifestations of subject competencies.
* Periodic assessment of the formation and development of qualities and competencies:
At the end of each semester, teachers use comments and manifestations from regular assessments of the formation and development of each essential quality, core competency of each student to evaluate as follows:
- Excellent: Meet educational requirements well, clear and frequent manifestations.
- Met: Meet educational requirements, clear but not frequent manifestations.
- Needs improvement: Do not meet educational requirements, unclear manifestations.
