Definitions
In this document, the terms below are understood as follows:
- career orientation in educational institutions: Activities aimed at supporting learners in discovering their abilities and talents to orient their studies, professional development, careers, and employment suitable to their capacities, interests, strengths, and health.
- Startup support activities in educational institutions: Activities aimed at helping learners accumulate knowledge and skills to foster innovative thinking, create new ideas and solutions that add value to themselves, their families, communities, and society.
- Partner: Agencies, units, businesses, educational institutions, production facilities, organizations, and individuals that have relationships and cooperate with educational institutions to invest, construct, renovate works, provide equipment, documents, organize training, support, develop services serving career counseling and employment support and startup activities.
Thus, career orientation in educational institutions aims to support learners in discovering their abilities and talents to orient their studies, professional development, careers, and employment suitable to their capacities, interests, strengths, and health.

What are the missions of career orientation in educational institutions in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 07/2022/TT-BGDDT, the duties of career orientation in high schools are as follows:
- Educate students to develop qualities, abilities, and determine their career aspirations and interests.
- Provide students with information about universities, training programs, and counsel them on job positions after graduation.
- Provide students with information and development trends of various industries and professions in society.
- Educate students to form and develop skills in teamwork, presentation, leadership, planning, self-study, and problem-solving.
- Organize for students to learn about and experience reality concerning career groups and jobs according to their interests and aspirations, suitable to the school's conditions.
What are regulations on career orientation in educational institutions in Vietnam?
In Clause 3, Article 5 of Circular 07/2022/TT-BGDDT, the regulations are as follows:

- For high schools
a) Integrate and incorporate into the school's subjects and educational activities.
b) Organize for students to learn about the qualities, abilities, professional skills required for various industries and jobs through learning tools, labor tools, and career and employment materials.
c) Organize knowledge enhancement and skill training in careers and employment for students through club activities, extracurricular activities, and activities in cooperation with partners.
d) Organize for students to experience and practice career groups and jobs that have been counseled through field trips, community experiences, businesses, agencies, units, and partners at least once per school year, ensuring suitability with the school's conditions.
đ) Organize career counseling, job counseling, and enrollment counseling events for students, at least once per school year.
- For universities
a) Guide students to exploit recruitment information databases of employers and information on labor market demand.
b) Provide tools, methods, and guide students to assess their skills, attitudes, and ability to adapt to the labor market.
c) Organize skill training in careers and employment for students through social activities, extracurricular activities.
d) Organize training, knowledge enhancement, and skill training for students through club activities, extracurricular activities, and training, experiential activities at employment units, and activities in cooperation with partners.
dd) Organize job fairs, recruitment events for students, at least once per academic year.
Thus, career orientation in high schools is implemented through the following forms:
- Integrate and incorporate into the school's subjects and educational activities.
- Organize for students to learn through learning tools, labor tools, and career and employment materials.
- Organize knowledge enhancement and skill training in careers and employment through club activities, extracurricular activities, and activities in cooperation with partners.
- Organize for students to experience and practice career groups and jobs.
