- Schools for gifted students in physical education and sports are educational institutions belonging to the national educational system, a specialized type of school for students gifted in physical education and sports.
- Schools for gifted students in physical education and sports function to train, foster, and develop sports talents for students and teach the general education program as stipulated in the Primary School Charter; Lower Secondary School Charter, Upper Secondary School Charter, and the Multi-level School Charter issued by the Minister of Education and Training.

Who has the authority to manage schools for gifted students in physical education and sports in Vietnam?
Based on Article 3 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of schools for gifted students in physical education and sports issued together with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the management of schools for gifted students in physical education and sports is as follows:
- Schools for gifted students in physical education and sports under local jurisdiction are directly managed in terms of expertise by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and are under the state management of the Department of Education and Training regarding the general education program.
- Schools for gifted students in physical education and sports under various Ministries and sectors are directly managed by these Ministries and sectors and are under the management of the Department of Education and Training where the school is located in terms of the general education program.
What are regulations on enrollment in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports in Vietnam?
Based on Article 7 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of schools for gifted students in physical education and sports issued together with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, enrollment in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports is as follows:
- Enrollment Plan.
+ For schools for gifted students in physical education and sports under local jurisdiction, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for planning, developing enrollment methods, setting enrollment targets, and coordinating with the Department of Education and Training to submit to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
+ For schools for gifted students in physical education and sports under Ministries and sectors, the principal develops the plan, submits it to the Ministry or sector for approval regarding the plan, enrollment methods, and targets as stipulated.
- Enrollment Subjects.
Students aged 6 to 15 who have completed the educational program according to the corresponding age and grade; are in good health, have a good physique and morality, have an average or above-average academic performance, have a talent for physical education and sports, and aspire to develop their sports talents to contribute to national sports; have family consent and meet the conditions as stipulated, are eligible to take the entrance exam to the schools for gifted students in physical education and sports in their specialized sports.
- Form and Content of Enrollment.
+ Cultural Knowledge: Organize evaluation of school records and certification of educational program completion at each corresponding level.
Students enrolling in elementary level must follow current regulations;
Students enrolling in secondary level must have a certificate of primary education completion;
Students enrolling in Upper Secondary School must have a lower secondary graduation diploma.
+ Specialized Talent: Organize testing and entrance exams.
Testing on physique, physical aptitude, and basic athletic talent;
Talent tests, physical aptitude, and skills for the intended sports discipline.

Based on Article 9 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of schools for gifted students in physical education and sports issued together with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, evaluation, classification, advancement, and age completion of study in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports are as follows:
- Evaluation, classification, advancement, transition to higher levels, and entrance to colleges, universities, and intermediate schools for students in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports are conducted as per regulations applicable to students in general education schools.
- Evaluation and classification of specialized talents in physical education and sports.
+ Regular evaluation and classification of specialized physical education and sports talents for talented students are directly conducted by specialized talent teachers.
+ Periodic evaluation and classification by specialized talent teachers and the Assessment Council according to the school's general plan. The Assessment Council is decided by the principal.
- Students in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports who are sent for long-term training or sports competitions, and who cannot meet the time, content, and score requirements in cultural subjects, shall be provided with supplementary teaching and evaluation by the school, ensuring that students complete the program content as stipulated.
- Students in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports participating in long-term training or competitions abroad or at National Sports Training Centers, who cannot participate in grade advancement exams, transition exams, graduation exams, will be entitled to policies stipulated.
- Students in schools for gifted students in physical education and sports who achieve gold, silver, or bronze medals in national or international sports competitions or achieve athlete ranks from level 1 or above, will be entitled to preferential policies in grade advancement, transition, graduation exams, and entrance to colleges, universities, and intermediate schools as per regulations.
- Age completion of study at schools for gifted students in physical education and sports is no more than 20 years old.
