Are literary competency requirements about the artistic style features in the grade 11 Literature course in Vietnam?

According to Section 4, Appendix to the Literature Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT (download), the literary competency requirements to be achieved after studying grade 11 Literature include:

- Analyze and evaluate literary texts based on understanding of artistic style and literary history;

- Identify characteristics of literary imagery and some differences between literary imagery and other artistic forms (painting, music, architecture, sculpture);

- Analyze and evaluate the ideological content and the expression of ideological content in a literary text;

- Recognize and analyze the characteristics of literary language, story, plot, and storytelling method;

- Identify and analyze some features of artistic style in folklore, medieval, and modern literature; the artistic style of some major authors and works.

- State general features of the history of national literature (development process, major themes and topics, significant authors, works; some values of content and form of national literature) and apply it to reading literary works.

Thus, after completing the grade 11 Literature course, students need to achieve literary competency regarding artistic style features.

Is calculating the average grade for grade 11 Literature the responsibility of the Literature teacher in Vietnam?

Based on Article 19 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT, the responsibility of assessing students of the grade 11 Literature teacher includes:

- Conducting regular assessments; participating in periodic evaluations as assigned by the Principal; directly recording or entering scores and evaluation levels into the monitoring and evaluation book for grade 11 Literature students;

- Calculating the average score for grade 11 Literature; compiling evaluation levels per semester and the entire year; directly recording or entering scores;

- Providing comments on the learning outcomes of grade 11 Literature students as per point b, clause 1, Article 8 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT to the class teacher.

Therefore, calculating the average grade for grade 11 Literature is one of the responsibilities of the Literature teacher.
