Under Subsection 5, Section B, Part 5 of the Regulations on minimum knowledge volume and competencies of graduates at intermediate and college levels for fields of electrical, electronics, and telecommunications engineering (hereinafter referred to as Regulations) issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates of intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam can do the following jobs:
- Maintain and repair transformers, electric motors, generators for private or joint venture enterprises;
- Install, operate, maintain, and repair residential and household electrical equipment;
- Install, maintain, and repair control and warning devices for residential use;
- Advise on products related to electricity, electronics, and automation.

What is the intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam?
Under Subsection 1, Section B, Part 5 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH defining intermediate-level civil electrical engineering:
intermediate-level civil electrical engineering is a profession where practitioners specialize in installing, operating, and maintaining motors, and generators, repairing residential electrical systems, household electrical devices, control and warning equipment, and meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
Civil Electrician in manufacturing facilities, agencies, business units related to technology; repair household and residential electrical equipment.
The profession's tasks are primarily carried out in workshops, factories, manufacturing, and trading companies under favorable working conditions, ensuring safety, hygiene, and economic efficiency.
To practice the profession, workers must have good health, good professional ethics, sufficient expertise, and professional skills suitable for the job position.
Additionally, continuous learning is required to enhance foreign language communication skills, informatics to expand social knowledge; cultivate carefulness, build professional awareness, and passion for the profession.
Minimum knowledge volume: 1,515 hours (equivalent to 54 credits).
What are the minimum requirements for knowledge of graduates of intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam?
Under Subsection 2, Section B, Part 5 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates of intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam must meet the following knowledge requirements:
- Explain the properties, uses, symbols, and usage scope of electrical materials commonly used in residential electricity;
- Explain the structural principles, features, usage methods, and storage of measuring instruments, low voltage electrical devices in the field of residential electricity;
- Explain the basic concepts and diagrams of basic electronic circuits commonly used in household electric devices;
- Explain the operating principles and characteristics of various sensors, oscillating circuits, sequential logic circuits, memory circuits, and A/D - D/A conversion circuits;
- Explain the uses, structures, operating principles, installation methods, and operational procedures, maintenance, repair of household heating devices, single-phase transformers, single-phase synchronous AC generators, three-phase, single-phase AC induction motors;
- Explain electrical safety technical measures and methods for first aid for occupational accident victims; first aid methods for electric shock victims;
- Explain basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as per regulations.
What are the minimum requirements for skills of graduates of intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam?
Under Subsection 3, Section B, Part 5 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates of intermediate-level civil electrical engineering in Vietnam must meet the following skill requirements:
- Use various types of electrical and non-electrical measuring instruments;
- Provide first aid for victims of occupational accidents and electric shock;
- Install, check, and repair residential electrical systems and household electric devices such as apartment electrical systems, irons, rice cookers, water heaters, microwaves, washing machines, water pumps, and single-phase generators;
- Install, maintain, and repair household heating devices and maintain household refrigeration devices;
- Install, maintain, and repair automatic control devices for residential use;
- Participate in the construction of residential lighting projects;
- Use energy efficiently and economically, ensuring the 5S standard;
- Perform tasks ensuring occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and fire and explosion prevention;
- Use basic information technology as per regulations; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional work;
- Use basic foreign languages, achieve level 1/6 in Vietnam's foreign language proficiency framework; and apply foreign languages to specialized tasks.
