According to Section 3 of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers in general education institutions issued together with Circular 17/2019/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on retraining on counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities for teachers are as follows:

(1) Name of the retraining module: retraining on counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities for teachers under requirements for retraining under professional development standards.

(2) Module code: GVPT 07

(3) Main content of the module:

- Psychological characteristics of each group of students in general education institutions.

- Regulations and methods of counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities in general education institutions.

- Application of some counseling and support activities for students in general education institutions in teaching and educational activities.

(4) Duration: 40 lessons (16 theoretical lessons, 24 practical lessons)

(5) Required outcomes:

- Analyze the psychological characteristics of groups of students in general education institutions (emphasis on analyzing the psychology and physiology of beginning and final year students, ethnic minority students, students with difficult circumstances, etc.);

- Apply regulations on counseling and supporting students to effectively implement appropriate counseling and support measures for each student group in general education institutions.

Apply some counseling and support activities for students in general education institutions in teaching and educational activities:

Motivate learning; organize experiential activities (for primary students); organize experiential and career orientation activities (for middle and high school students); teach value education, and life skills; Provide psychological support for beginning and final year students (for primary students), etc.

- Support colleagues in effectively implementing counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities in general education institutions.

Under Clause 5, Article 5 of Circular 20/2018/TT-BGDDT on professional title standards for teachers in general education institutions issued by the Minister of Education and Training, the criteria for counseling and supporting students under the professional title standards of teachers in Vietnam are as follows:

- Qualified: Understand the types of students and master regulations on counseling and supporting students; integrate counseling and support activities into teaching and education;

- Rather Good: Effectively implement counseling and support measures suitable for each student group in teaching and educational activities;

- Good: Guide and support colleagues in effectively implementing counseling and supporting students activities in teaching and educational activities.

What percentage of the duration of Retraining Program 03 does the duration of the Module on counseling and supporting students in Vietnam account for?

Professional capacity development retraining program according to job position requirements (referred to as retraining Program 03): Teachers in general education institutions choose retraining modules to develop qualities, and professional capacities to meet job position requirements. The number of optional modules ensures compliance with the retraining duration specified in Paragraph 2 Section IV of this Program. The retraining modules are:

Under Section 4 of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers in general education institutions issued together with Circular 17/2019/TT-BGDDT:

GUIDELINES FOR PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

1. The implementation of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions includes 03 retraining programs as stipulated in Section III of this Program.

2. Retraining duration:

a) Each teacher at a general education institution must ensure the specific training duration as follows:

- retraining program 01: Approximately 1 week/school year (about 40 lessons/school year);

- retraining program 02: Approximately 1 week/school year (about 40 lessons/school year);

- Retraining Program 03: 1 week/school year (40 lessons/school year);

Program 03 requires a duration of 40 lessons/year, and the teacher retraining module on counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities is also 40 lessons. Therefore, the teacher retraining module on counseling and supporting students in teaching and educational activities meets 100% of the lesson requirements for Retraining Program 03.

Therefore, teachers who choose the retraining module on counseling and supporting students do not need to select additional retraining modules.
