The illiteracy eradication program for Science equips learners with the most fundamental and core knowledge about science, informatics, and technology; contributes to consolidating the qualities and competencies in the Natural and Social Studies acquired in the previous stage; forms and develops general qualities and competencies, as well as basic competencies in science, informatics, and technology to serve labor and production, and adapt to societal development; provides knowledge and skills to protect personal and community health, fosters a sense of responsibility towards the living environment, and nurtures love for the homeland and country.
What are the specific objectives of the illiteracy eradication program for Science in Vietnam?
Also according to the regulations in Part 2 of the Illiteracy Eradication Program issued together with Circular 33/2021/TT-BGDDT, the specific objectives of the illiteracy eradication program for Science are as follows:
* Semester 4
After completing Semester 4 of the Science subject, learners in the Illiteracy Eradication Program should achieve some of the following objectives:
- Present basic understandings about substances, energy, the roles of substances and energy in human life, plants, and animals; metabolism and nutritional needs of plants and animals; human nutritional needs and some nutrition-related diseases; the impact of the natural environment on human life, plants, and animals.
- Initially form problem-solving thinking in learners with the help of computers; recognize the basic components of computers; know how to organize, store, search, and exchange information; search and exploit information on the internet for entertainment, and use it appropriately according to life needs.
- Recognize the role of technological products in life, family, and society; significant inventions impacting human life; effectively and safely use technology products in the family such as lights, fans, radios, and televisions; use technology products correctly, appropriately, and effectively in labor and production.
* Semester 5
After completing Semester 5 of the Science subject, learners in the Illiteracy Eradication Program should achieve some of the following objectives:
- Consolidate the basic understandings learned in Semester 4.
- Recognize the role of different forms of energy in human life, use energy efficiently and economically; understand the reproduction, growth, and development of plants and animals; understand the process of reproduction and development in humans, care for pubertal health, and know how to prevent sexual abuse; the role of soil in the environment for organisms and humans; present the impacts of human activities on the environment.
- Use information search tools on the Internet to serve learning, entertainment, and meet daily information needs, share information with others; have an awareness of complying with regulations on data exploitation and use on the network; use software for creating documents to solve practical problems.
- Present the role of green plants, plant and care for some types of ornamental and fruit trees; make some handicraft products (silk flowers, paper flowers,...); use technological household appliances safely and effectively (phone, refrigerator, air conditioner,...); design simple technology products and assemble some technological models; apply the process of designing simple technology products to meet daily life needs.

The illiteracy eradication program for Science forms and develops in learners' competencies such as: understanding the natural and social environment, informatics, and technology, and applying learned knowledge and skills to solve practical problems in labor and production.
