What is the information on STEM blended learning in Vietnam in December?



I. TRAINING METHODS

This program is designed to optimize learning. It aims to closely follow the 2018 General Education Curriculum, particularly in STEM education.

- The program is designed to directly reference lessons and STEM fields in the General Education Program, ensuring a tight linkage with national educational standards and practical needs.

- Learners are placed at the center of the training process, encouraging the development of individual capabilities and autonomy, thus allowing each participant to explore and maximize their potential.

- Employ advanced teaching methods such as:

+ Visual Method: Explain and present information through images, charts, and other visual aids to enhance understanding and retention.

+ Practical Method: Perform practical activities to reinforce knowledge.

+ Project-Based Learning Method (PBL): Encourage learners to execute real-world projects, thereby learning how to apply theory in practice.

+ Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) and Integrated Interdisciplinary Learning: Promote active learning and problem solving, helping learners connect knowledge and skills from different fields.

II. TRAINING OBJECTIVES

After completing the training program, teachers will be able to:

- Analyze and practice teaching skills according to STEM education methods to develop students' qualities and abilities, providing a solid foundation for understanding and approaching STEM.

- Apply STEM knowledge to design dynamic learning environments that encourage student initiative and creativity.

- Design detailed STEM lesson plans and organize STEM experiential activities, enhancing the connection between theory and practice to help students deeply understand the real-world applications of the learned knowledge.

- Organize lessons in a way that students can directly relate to real-world applications, thereby encouraging students to apply knowledge to solve real-life issues.

- Evaluate and effectively utilize educational resources, using modern equipment and technology in STEM teaching and learning to maximize resources and educational effectiveness.

- Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of new teaching methods such as Flipped Learning, Integrated Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Project-Based Learning ... to promote self-learning and active participation of students.

- Provide conditions for students to develop self-reliance, creativity, and problem-solving skills through activities based on real-world experiences and projects.

What are the steps to create a STEM lesson in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 1 Section 4 Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH year 2020, the steps to create a STEM lesson in Vietnam are as follows:

- Step 1: Select Teaching Content

Based on the knowledge content in the subject curriculum and the phenomena or processes related to that knowledge in nature and society; procedures or technological devices that apply that knowledge in practice to choose the content of the lesson.

- Step 2: Identify the Issue to be Solved

Identify the issue to be solved for students to perform so that in solving it, students must learn the knowledge and skills to be taught in the chosen subject curriculum or apply known knowledge and skills to build the lesson.

- Step 3: Build Criteria for Product/Solution to Solve the Problem

Clearly define the criteria of the solution/product as an important basis for proposing scientific hypotheses/problem-solving solutions/designing product samples.

- Step 4: Design the Process for Organizing Teaching Activities

- The process of organizing teaching activities is designed using positive teaching methods and techniques with learning activities encompassing the steps of the technical process.

+ Each learning activity is clearly designed in terms of purpose, content, expected learning products that students must complete, and the way of organizing learning activities. These activities can be organized both inside and outside the classroom (at school, at home, and in the community).

+ It is necessary to design electronic lessons on the network to guide and support students' learning activities outside the classroom.

What is the specific purpose of a STEM lesson in Vietnam?

According to Section 1 Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH year 2020, the purpose of a STEM lesson is as follows:

- Raise awareness for management and teaching staff about the position, role, and significance of STEM education in secondary schools; unify content, methods, and forms of organizing STEM education in schools;

- Strengthen the application of STEM education in secondary education to contribute to achieving the objectives of the 2018 General Education Program;

- Enhance the capacity of management and teaching staff in organizing, managing, building, and implementing teaching according to STEM education methods.
