According to the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, Civic Education is one of the compulsory subjects for 6th-grade students.

Under Clause 2, Article 4 of the Regulations on Professional Standards for Teachers in General Education Institutions issued with Circular 20/2018/TT-BGDDT, the criterion regarding the virtue of 6th-grade Civic Education teachers in Vietnam is specified as follows:

- Qualified: The teacher has manner and method of working in conformity with works;

- Good: The teacher has awareness of self-training to create an exemplary virtue; great influence on students;

- Excellent: The teacher is a role model in terms of virtues, has great influence and support colleagues in making of virtues.

What is the purpose of promulgating the Regulations on Professional Standards for Teachers in Vietnam?

According to Article 2 of the Regulations on Professional Standards for Teachers in General Education Institutions issued with Circular 20/2018/TT-BGDDT on the purposes of promulgation of the Regulation on professional standards:

- Teachers of general education institutions to carry out self-assessment of the qualities and capacity; make and implement the plans for practice of qualities and refresher training in improvement of capacity for professional skills in order to meet the requirements for educational innovation.

- General education institutions to evaluate the qualities, capacity for professional skills of teachers; make and develop the plans for refresher training in improvement of capacity for professional skills of teachers in order to meet educational objectives of schools, local authorities and education industry.

- State management authorities to research, make and implement the regimes and policies on development of the contingent of teachers of general education institutions; select and use the contingent of key teachers of general education institutions.

- Training and refresher training establishments to develop programs and organize training and refresher training in order to develop the qualities and capacity for professional skills of teachers of general education institutions.
