What are the objectives of 7th-grade Informatics in Vietnam?
Under sub-section 3 Section 3 General Education Program for Informatics issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives for Informatics at the lower secondary level are as follows:
- Help students develop thinking and problem-solving skills; know how to choose appropriate, useful data and information; know how to break down a major problem into smaller tasks; initially acquaint themselves with modeling a problem through understanding and using algorithmic and visual programming concepts; know how to use templates in design and create digital products; know how to evaluate digital product results as well as make adjustments and correct errors in those products.
- Enable students to use media, devices, and software; know how to organize, store, and exploit multimedia resources; create and share simple digital products for learning and daily life; have a sense of and ability to apply ICT to serve individuals and communities.
- Familiarize students with digital services and common software for learning, self-study, communication, and cooperation within the community; basic understanding of legal, ethical, and cultural issues related to the use of information resources and online communication; initially recognizes major careers within the informatics sector.
What will teachers do while teaching 7th-grade Informatics in Vietnam?
Under sub-section 3 Section 6 General Education Program for Informatics issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, during the teaching process, teachers shall:
- Apply active teaching methods, focusing on visual and practical teaching. Encourage project-based teaching to enhance students' teamwork, self-learning capability, and initiative. Teaching in the computer practice room should be flexible to engage students while ensuring task completion.
- Depending on the lesson content, choose suitable teaching organization forms for each activity. Some topics directly related to logic, algorithmic thinking, and problem-solving can be taught without using a computer.
- Connect knowledge content with real-world issues, requiring students not just to propose solutions but also to verify the effectiveness of solutions through digital products.
- Pay attention to differentiated teaching; at the lower secondary level, encourage students to select suitable topics, spark their passion, and discover their abilities in Informatics, preparing for choosing Informatics at the upper secondary level.
