In Vietnam, what does IoT mean?
IoT stands for Internet of Things, which translates to Vietnamese as Internet vạn vật. It refers to a network of devices and objects connected through the internet, allowing them to collect, exchange, and analyze data.
Students can also refer to the following information about IoT as follows:
In Vietnam, what does IoT mean? Simply put: You can think of IoT as a massive network where everything around us, from small items like light bulbs and smart locks to complex devices like self-driving cars and industrial machinery, can "communicate" with each other. Main components of IoT: Devices: Including sensors, controllers, and connection modules. Connection: Devices connect with each other through wireless networks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa...) or wired networks (Ethernet). Data: Data is collected from sensors, then processed and analyzed to make decisions. Applications: Applications are built to communicate with IoT devices and provide services. Examples of IoT applications: Smart Home: Control lighting, temperature, and security systems via voice commands or smartphone apps. Healthcare: Monitor personal health, early warning of diseases, support remote treatment. Agriculture: Automate irrigation, fertilization, and monitor plant health. Industry: Optimize production, minimize waste, and increase productivity. Transportation: Smart traffic management, self-driving vehicles. Benefits of IoT: Automation: Minimize human intervention, and increase efficiency. Convenience: Provide comfort and ease for life. Efficiency: Optimize resource utilization, and reduce costs. Big Data: Collect and analyze large amounts of data to make decisions. |

In Vietnam, what is the educational level at which the Informatics curriculum includes the concept of IoT?
According to Section 3 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of the general education program for Informatics are defined as follows
At the upper secondary level
The Informatics program at the upper secondary level is more differentiated toward career orientation. Therefore, the program has common requirements for all students' informatics competence and additional requirements corresponding to students who choose the Applied Informatics or Computer Science orientation.
- NLa Coordinate and properly use common digital systems; describe the functions of major components inside a computer, and the basic specifications of digital devices; initially customize operating policies for computers;
Provide an overview of the relationship between hardware, operating systems, and application programs; know how to use some primary functions in operating systems to enhance computer use efficiency; compare LAN and the Internet, know the IoT concept;
Introduce the basic functions of some common network devices and protocols, use some practical applications on the network; and recognize the important role of automated information processing and communication systems in the knowledge society.
- NLb Present and give illustrative examples of some regulations on information rights and copyright, avoid violations when using information and digital resources; understand the concept, destructive mechanism, spread of malware and ways to prevent it;
Know how to protect information, data, and personal accounts; clearly understand the downside of the Internet, identify fraudulent behaviors, and information with negative content, and know how to appropriately handle them; exhibit humanity when participating in the virtual world; have a general understanding of the workforce needs, the nature of work in the informatics field, and other industries that use ICT; ready, confident, responsible, and creative when participating in informatics activities.
- NLc Know the basic data structures, sorting and basic search algorithms, write programs, create simple web pages; know the concept of a database system, understand centralized and distributed database system architecture; use search engines to effectively, safely, and legally retrieve information;
Search and choose appropriate and reliable information; use digital tools to organize, and share data, and information during the problem-identification and resolution process; have initial knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence and identify some typical applications of artificial intelligence.
Thus, the Informatics curriculum at the upper secondary level includes the concept of IoT.
