On September 13, 2024, the Education Sector Union of the Ho Chi Minh City issued Official Dispatch 194/CDGD-TG in 2024 on reducing the scale, frequency, and temporarily suspending the organization of festivals and events in Ho Chi Minh City.
Following the directive of Official Dispatch 5383/UBND-VX in 2024 from the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on reducing the frequency and temporarily suspending the organization of festivals and events in the city, the Standing Board of the Education Sector Union of the city requests affiliated grassroots unions to implement the following content:
- Do not organize festivals, entertainment activities, celebrations, etc., at the units according to the directive of Official Dispatch 5383/UBND-VX in 2024.
- Continue to carry out internal care activities as planned; specifically, caring for the children by holding gatherings and giving gifts.
Instead of organizing festivals, entertainment activities, and celebrations, care for children in Ho Chi Minh City will be conducted as planned through gatherings and gift-giving.

On August 8, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Decision 3089/QD-UBND in 2024 regarding the academic time plan for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool education, general education, and continuous education in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the academic time plan for the 2024 - 2025 school year for preschool education, general education, and continuous education in Ho Chi Minh City issued together with Decision 3089/QD-UBND in 2024, the following regulations are provided:
- Public holiday leave is regulated by the Labor Law, if coinciding with weekends, an extra day off will be provided on the next working day. School principals are responsible for proactively creating suitable educational plans for their units.
- Tentative date for the upper secondary school graduation exam 2025: expected to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025.
- The tentative Lunar New Year holiday starts from January 25, 2025 (26th lunar December) to the end of February 2, 2025 (5th lunar January).
The Lunar New Year holiday 2025 for Ho Chi Minh City students is expected to start from 26th lunar December (January 25, 2025) to the end of 5th lunar January (February 2, 2025).
