According to Subsection 2, Section 5 of the General Education Program for Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the 7th-grade Literature curriculum covers the following literary knowledge:
- The cognitive value of literature
- The topic and theme of texts; the relationship between details and theme, how to identify the theme of texts; the attitude and sentiments of the author expressed through the text
- Summary of texts
- Form of proverbs
- Topics, events, situations, plots, space, time, and characters of fables and science fiction stories
- First-person narrator and third-person narrator; the effect of each type of narrator in a storytelling
- Some formal elements of four- and five-syllable poetry: the number of sentences, words, rhyme, rhythm
- The lyrical quality, the self, the language of essays, and prose
- Life experiences and the understanding of literature
What are the objectives of 7th-grade Literature in Vietnam?
According to Section 3 of the Appendix of the General Education Program for Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT on the objectives for each educational level, the objectives of Literature at the lower secondary level are as follows:
- Assist students in continuing to develop good qualities formed in primary school; enhance and expand the development of these qualities with specific manifestations such as pride in national history and literature; have dreams and aspirations, a spirit of self-study and self-respect, a sense of citizenship, respect for the law.
- Continue to develop general competencies, language competencies, and literary competencies formed in primary school with higher requirements. Develop language proficiency with the requirement to:
+ Distinguish various types of literary texts, argumentative texts, and informational texts; understand both explicit and implicit meanings of these texts;
Compose complete, coherent narratives, descriptions, expressions, arguments, explanations, and practical writings, logically and appropriately combining expressions; speak clearly and coherently; maintain a confident attitude suitable for communication contexts; listen and understand with an appropriate attitude.
+ Develop literary proficiency with the requirement to: discern different genres of stories, poetry, prose, and literary scripts and some specific sub-genres; recognize characteristics of literary language, recognize and analyze the effects of formal elements and artistic techniques associated with each literary genre;
Recognize emotional value, cognitive value, and aesthetic value; analyze symbolic value, content, and form of literary works; be able to create some literary works.
