Summer political summary on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the education sector

Part 1: Introduction of concepts and overview of the fourth industrial revolution

Industrial Revolution Concept: the term “industrial revolution” implies significant change, not only in economic terms but also in complete cultural and social transformation.

Teachers provide an overview of the concept of the fourth industrial revolution.

Industrial Revolution 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, is occurring in many developed countries.

...Teachers further elaborate on the contents related to previous industrial revolutions....

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is emerging from the third revolution, combining technologies, thereby blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological realms. When compared to previous industrial revolutions, this revolution is progressing at an exponential rate rather than linear. The breadth and depth of the changes occurring in this evolving process create transformations in the entire system of production, management, and governance across most industries worldwide.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution plays a crucial role in producing products and services that enable us to live better lives. Conversely, this revolution can also lead to greater inequality as new technologies replace labor-intensive jobs.

Part 2: The impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the education sector

1. Changing activities in educational institutions:

The old teaching methods are having to change to meet societal needs. With the application of the achievements of revolution 4.0, learners anywhere can access the school's library for self-study and self-research.

Virtual classes, virtual teachers, simulation devices, digitized lectures shared through platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Zoom... will become a development trend in vocational training activities in the near future. In that case, knowledge cannot be confined and monopolized by individuals or within an organization's scope. Learners have more opportunities to access, accumulate, and refine new and good knowledge, increasing their chances of becoming a global citizen - future workers capable of operating in a creative and competitive environment.

...Teachers further elaborate....

2. Emergence of learning software

In many countries, these adaptive learning software have swiftly replaced partially or entirely the role of textbooks in classrooms.

Educational software introduced has the ability to adapt to each student's capabilities, allowing them to study at their own pace.

3. Changes in the role of teachers in classrooms

The school management system supported by technology can provide data systems to help teachers monitor the progress of each class, thereby giving immediate feedback on issues students face. However, no matter how advanced and important technology may be, it cannot replace the role of teachers or turn them into robots. Therefore, how to take advantage of and master technology to support and create freedom and creativity in education is a challenge for every teacher and educational institution.

Part 3: Challenges and opportunities for Vietnamese education

The Communist Party and our State always anticipate the challenges in educational activities for future generations. On May 4, 2017, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam issued Directive No. 16/CT-TTg on enhancing the ability to approach the Fourth Industrial Revolution with many important solutions. In which, the Prime Minister requested a strong change in policies, content, and educational methods to create human resources capable of receiving new production technology trends.

...Teachers further elaborate on government policies....

Advantages for educational management officials and teachers - crucial forces in the educational reform endeavor - always receive care, investment, and support to increase capabilities. Professional standards for managers at various levels, and teachers are being prepared for issuance.

Difficulties: Highlight actual teaching difficulties in online teaching and use of educational management software.

Part 4: Actions the education sector needs to take:

Innovate training methods, promote the application of information technology, digital technology in teaching and learning activities, enhance the capabilities and quality of teachers and management officials. Promote the construction of facilities, including school infrastructure, modern equipment, libraries...

Link teaching and learning with practical realities. Education needs to simulate and prepare students for real-life situations as much as possible because technology has made accessing knowledge easier, causing knowledge to no longer serve as "insurance" for students' futures as before.
