Based on Subsection 2, Section 5 of the general education curriculum for the Literature subject issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the literary knowledge for grade 12 Literature includes:

- The cognitive, educational, and aesthetic functions of literature

- The coherence between the theme, ideology, and dominant inspiration

- Some expressions of artistic style in folk literature, medieval literature, modern literature, realism, and romanticism; the artistic style of the author

- Some elements of legendary tales, novels (modern and post-modern), modern lyrical poetry, comedies, and memoirs

+ Legendary tales: themes, characters, language, artistic techniques; assessing the role of fantastical elements in legendary tales, relating this to their role in ancient folk tales

+ Novels (modern and post-modern): language, psychological development, actions of characters

+ Modern lyrical poetry: language, imagery, symbols, elements of symbolism, surrealism

+ Comedies: language, characters, situations, satirical techniques

+ Reports, diaries, or memoirs: nonfictional nature, description, narration; combining realistic details and events with the writer's experiences, attitudes, and evaluations

- Psychological progression of characters and the ways authors express character psychology

- The relationship of the narrator, perspective in expressing the theme of the text

- Basic understanding of Ho Chi Minh to aid in reading and understanding some representative works of this author

- An overview of literary history and the role of foundational knowledge of literary history in understanding texts

What is the duration of the grade 12 Literature in Vietnam?

Based on Section 8 of the general education curriculum for the Literature subject issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the duration for the literature program at various educational levels is as follows:

At the upper secondary school level, each grade has an additional 35 periods for elective study topics.
