The scheme aimed at enhancing comprehensive health for children and students in the period 2018-2025 through nutrition and physical activities is a concise form of the scheme "Ensuring proper nutrition and enhancing physical activities for children and students to improve health, prevent cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and bronchial asthma in the period 2018 - 2025".

This scheme has been approved by Decision 41/QD-TTg in 2019 issued by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.

What are the objectives of the Scheme Enhancing Comprehensive Health for Children and Students in the Period 2018-2025 through Nutrition and Physical Activities in Vietnam?

According to Section 2 of Decision 41/QD-TTg in 2019, the objectives of the scheme enhancing comprehensive health for children and students in the period 2018-2025 through nutrition and physical activities are as follows:

*General Objectives

- Enhance understanding of proper nutrition and appropriate physical activities for educational management staff, teachers, staff, children, students, and parents to prevent non-communicable diseases.

- Implement proper nutrition and enhance appropriate physical activities for children and students.

*Specific Objectives

- Improve knowledge and capacity of educational management staff, teachers, staff, children, students, and parents about proper nutrition and enhance physical activities to improve student health and prevent non-communicable diseases.

+ 100% of school healthcare staff; at least 85% of students and teachers, educational management staff in educational and vocational education institutions; at least 50% of parents are communicated about the benefits of proper nutrition and physical activities in preventing non-communicable diseases.

+ 100% of students are communicated about preventing smoking; at least 80% of high school students, 100% of university students are communicated about preventing the harms of alcohol.

+ 100% of school healthcare staff are trained and educated about proper nutrition, diet composition principles, physical activities enhancement, and prevention of non-communicable diseases.

+ 100% of staff working in collective kitchens in educational and vocational education institutions are trained and educated about proper nutrition and food safety hygiene.

- Increase the rate of proper nutritional practices for children and students.

+ At least 90% of educational and vocational education institutions organized for boarding meals provide school meals for children and students meeting nutritional needs according to regulations.

+ 100% of preschool and common educational institutions monitor and assess the nutritional status of children and students in accordance with regulations.

+ 100% of educational and vocational education institutions with boarding kitchens in schools ensure food safety and hygiene conditions.

+ 100% of educational and vocational education institutions with school canteens ensure food safety and hygiene conditions; do not sell foods, beverages that are not nutritionally adequate, of unknown origin, or harmful to the health of children and students.

- Enhance physical activities for children and students to improve health and prevent non-communicable diseases.

+ 100% of educational and vocational education institutions fully perform physical activity regulations for children and students through curricular and extracurricular activities, striving for each student to achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day as recommended by the World Health Organization.

+ 100% of educational and vocational education institutions organize communication activities about the benefits of enhancing physical activities for children and students.

What are the perspectives of the Scheme Enhancing Comprehensive Health for Children and Students in the Period 2018-2025 through Nutrition and Physical Activities in Vietnam?

According to Section 1 of Decision 41/QD-TTg in 2019, the perspectives of the scheme enhancing comprehensive health for children and students in the period 2018-2025 through nutrition and physical activities are as follows:

- Ensuring proper nutrition and enhancing physical activities for children and students play a significant role in improving student health, height development, physical strength, and preventing non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and bronchial asthma.

- Ensuring proper nutrition and enhancing physical activities for children and students in educational and training institutions need to be carried out regularly, continuously, long-term, and integrated with related schemes, projects, and programs.

- The State focuses on investing and having mechanisms to encourage the mobilization of other lawful resources for ensuring proper nutrition and enhancing physical activities for children and students.
