Schedule for the first day of school for the 2024-2025 academic year for continuing education in Vietnam
Pursuant to Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 on the Framework Plan for the school year 2024-2025 for preschool, general education, and continuing education, including the school start schedule:
Issuing the framework plan for the school year 2024 - 2025 for preschool, general education, and continuing education to be applied nationwide as follows:
1. The earliest school start date is 1 week before the opening ceremony date. For first grade, the earliest school start date is 2 weeks before the opening ceremony date.
2. The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.
3. The first semester will end before January 18, 2025, and the entire school year will be completed before May 31, 2025.
4. The primary education completion and lower secondary school graduation evaluation will be conducted before June 30, 2025.
5. The admission process for the first-year classes will be completed before July 31, 2025.
6. The high school graduation exam for 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
7. Other national examinations will be organized according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The earliest start date for the school year 2024-2025 for continuing education is one week before the opening ceremony (August 29, 2024), which is on September 5, 2024.

What are general tasks for continuing education in the school year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?
According to Section 1 of Official Dispatch 3933/BGDDT-GDTX 2024, the general tasks for continuing education in the school year 2024-2025 encompass 8 tasks as follows:
(1). Promote activities for building a learning society.
(2). Strengthen advisory, direction, complete the network of continuing education establishments and diversify educational programs in continuing education establishments.
(3). Promote literacy eradication. Focus on literacy in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, where the illiteracy rate is high.
(4). Mobilize resources to implement the continuing education tasks in localities. Organize training, capacity building for management staff, teachers, collaborators in continuing education establishments.
(5). Enhance the application of information technology and digital transformation in the management, administration of establishments, and in continuing education activities.
(6). Strengthen inspection of compliance with continuing education regulations.
(7). Promote communication to raise awareness among people and the entire society about continuing education and lifelong learning, and building a learning society.
(8). Enhance emulation movements and commendation work. Actively participate in policy development for continuing education.
How to enhance emulation movements, commendation work, and actively participate in policy development for continuing education in the school year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?
According to subsection 8, Section 2 of Official Dispatch 3933/BGDDT-GDTX 2024, the guidance for enhancing emulation movements, commendation work, and actively participating in policy development for continuing education in the school year 2024-2025 is as follows:
- Integrate the emulation movement of building a learning society and lifelong learning with other emulation movements in the education sector, ensuring practicality, effectiveness, and suitability to the actual conditions of localities and units.
Promptly commend, recognize, and honor organizations and individuals with creative initiatives, solutions, and models in management, teaching, and learning; propagate and replicate exemplary models of effective continuing education establishments.
- Organize preliminary and final assessments of emulation and promptly acknowledge organizations and individuals for their participation and contributions to providing effective continuing education programs at continuing education establishments and learning models; ensure synchronized implementation of emulation evaluation content for both non-public continuing education establishments and Community Learning Centers.
- Instruct continuing education establishments to properly implement commendation and disciplinary actions for student progress; ensure fairness, transparency, promptness, and motivation for students; enhance positive disciplinary education measures to cultivate discipline and responsibility among students towards themselves, teachers, peers, family, and community.
- Participate in contributing comments, developing policies on continuing education, lifelong learning, and building a learning society with quality when the Ministry of Education and Training seeks feedback from localities and establishments.
- Properly conduct emulation and commendation work according to the Ministry of Education and Training's guidelines on emulation and commendation in the education sector.
Promptly motivate and commend continuing education establishments, management staff, teachers, students, and workers in both public and non-public continuing education institutions, as well as organizations and individuals within and outside the country contributing significantly to continuing education, lifelong learning, and building a learning society.
