- The training methods applied to elementary-level must attach special importance to vocational practice skills and promotion of the positiveness and self-awareness of students.

- The training methods applied to intermediate-level or college-level must combine the vocational practice skills and vocational knowledge; promote the positiveness, self-awareness, dynamic, independent working and working in groups; use teaching software and apply information technology and communication to teaching and learning.

According to Clause 1, Article 38 of the Law on Vocational Education 2014, provisions regarding degrees and certificates in vocational education and training are:

Degrees and certificates in vocational education and training

1. |Degrees and certificates in vocational education and training shall be granted to vocational training graduates (at all levels). The degrees and certificates in vocational education and training shall be granted as follows:

a) A student finishing the training program at elementary-level may take an end of course test, if he/she passes the test, he/she shall be granted the Certificate in elementary-level vocational training by the Head of vocational education institution or an enterprise providing vocational training;

b) A student finishing the year-based training program at intermediate-level passes an graduation exam or a student finishing the module-based or credit-based training program as prescribed, the Principal of the vocational training school or vocational college shall be recognition of graduation and granted a Degree of vocational secondary schools;

c) A student finishing the year-based training program at the college level passes an graduation exam or protection of graduation thesis or a student finishing the module-based or credit-based training program as prescribed, the Principal of the vocational training school or vocational college, or higher education institution providing college-level shall be recognized as graduation and granted a Degree of college-level and recognition of practice bachelor or practicing engineers.

Thus, college students finishing the year-based training program and meeting the conditions are permitted to defend a graduation thesis.

If they meet the requirements, they shall be recognized for graduation by the principal of the college or higher education institution providing college-level training and granted a Degree of college-level and recognition of practice bachelor or practicing engineers.

What are the regulations on grading the year-based training program at the college level in Vietnam?

According to the provisions of Article 21 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BLDTBXH, the year-based training program at the college level in Vietnam is graded as follows:

- After each semester or school year, learning results of learners will be classified based on a 10-point scale as follows:

+ Excellent: from 9,0 to 10;

+ Very good: from 8,0 to 8,9;

+ Good: from 7,0 to 7,9;

+ Acceptable: from 5,0 to 6,9;

+ Fail: below 5,0.

- A learner who has a very good grade or higher will have his/her grade deducted by one classification level if:

+ He/she is disciplined by the school at a warning level or higher in the semester or school year that he/she receives the classification of learning results;

+ He/she has to retake an exam of a subject or module in the semester or school year regarding the excellent classification; he/she has to retake exams of 2 subjects or modules or more in the semester or school year regarding the very good classification (excluding conditional subjects; temporarily suspended or exempted subjects or modules).

- Learning results in the sub-semester shall be combined with learning results in the main semester for classification.
