A DREAM
When I was young, I loved going to school and everything about it: the classroom, the blackboard, textbooks, friends, the teachers' lectures, ... and I always wished that one day I would proudly raise my diploma in joy and the happy eyes of everyone.
However, I was from a poor family with many siblings. I had to decide to quit school and work at a bakery, and from then on, my dream gradually faded.
As I grew older, like many other women, I got married and had children. I was determined not to let my children drop out of school or live a hard life like I did. My husband and I worked hard to raise our children to be successful.
Only our youngest daughter, Linda, had problems. Since childhood, Linda was weak and hard to care for, so few schools would accept her for a long time. Not wanting my child to follow in my footsteps, I started asking around and searching. Finally, I found a school and enrolled not only Linda but myself as well. I wanted to stay beside her, support her, and deep inside, I wanted to continue fulfilling my own dream.
It was exciting to be back at school. But it wasn't easy at all; at 58, I had to handle house chores while struggling with numbers. Both of us motivated, comforted, and helped each other in our studies. Until the day we graduated.
Unexpectedly, at the end of my life, I was able to live for myself, for my happiness and dreams. It might be a bit late, but I learned one thing: never bury your dreams! Be confident that one day we will turn them into reality. We don't need to rely on miracles from afar; everything we achieve today is due to relentless effort and determination not to give up the dreams within us. Indeed, it is never too late to start a dream!
