What are the guidelines for checking the results of the Exam for the Selection of Excellent Students at the National Level in the 2024-2025 academic year for Hanoi?

The results of the Exam for the Selection of Excellent Students at the National Level for 63 provinces and municipalities were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on January 18, 2025. This year, 3,803 candidates out of a total of 6,482 candidates achieved prizes, accounting for 58.68%.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that the marking process was organized in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety, seriousness, accuracy, objectivity, and fairness.

The exam results and prize assignments indicate that the number of students achieving prizes this year is distributed across nearly all regions. Even in some mountainous, border areas with challenging socio-economic conditions, students achieved the highest ranks in the exam.

What are the objectives of the applicable general education program in Vietnam?

Under the provisions of Section 2 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of the applicable general education program in Vietnam are as follows:

- The general education program concretizes the goals of general education, helping students master general knowledge, effectively apply learned knowledge and skills in life, self-study throughout life, have an orientation for career choices suitable to their abilities, build and develop harmonious social relationships, have a personality and rich spiritual life, thereby having a meaningful life and contributing positively to the development of the country and humanity.

- The primary education program helps students form and develop basic elements that lay the foundation for harmonious physical and mental development, traits, and capacities; primarily oriented towards education about personal values, family, community, and necessary habits and routines in studying and living.

- The lower secondary education program helps students develop the traits and capacities that have been formed and developed in primary education, self-adjust themselves according to common social standards, apply active learning methods to complete foundational knowledge and skills, have initial understanding of industries and awareness of career orientation for continued upper secondary education, vocational training, or labor participation.

- The upper secondary education program helps students continue to develop the necessary traits and capacities for workers, citizens' awareness and character, self-learning and lifelong learning consciousness, career choice ability suitable to abilities and interests, conditions, and personal circumstances to continue studying, vocational training, or labor participation, adaptation ability to changes in the context of globalization and new industrial revolution.

What are the standards of organizers of the Exam for the Selection of Excellent Students at the National Level in Vietnam?

According to Article 8 of the Regulations on the Exam for the Selection of Excellent Students at the National Level issued with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, the standards of exam organizers are as follows:

Standards of exam organizers

1. Members of the Steering Committee for exams for the selection of excellent students at the national level and Paper Question Setting Councils, Marking Councils, and Re-Marking Councils are exam organizers.

2. Exam organizers shall adequately meet the following standards:

a) Having a sense of morality and responsibility;

b) Being professionally proficient in exam administration; and

c) Not having any spouse, child, sibling, relative, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, relative-in-law, guardian, or ward participate in the exam;

d) Not being under any disciplinary measures or criminally prosecuted.

3. Aside from the standards prescribed in Clause 2 of this Article, members of Paper Question Setting Councils, Marking Councils, and Re-Marking Councils shall also have sufficient professional qualifications.

Thus, according to the above regulations, the standards of organizers of the Exam for the Selection of Excellent Students at the National Level in Vietnam are:

- Having a sense of morality and responsibility;

- Being professionally proficient in exam administration; and

- Not having any spouse, child, sibling, relative, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, relative-in-law, guardian, or ward participate in the exam;

- Not being under any disciplinary measures or criminally prosecuted.
