Characteristics of National Defense and Security Education Subject in Upper Secondary Schools in Vietnam
Based on Section 1 of the program issued with Circular 46/2020/TT-BGDDT, the characteristics of National Defense and Security Education subject at the upper secondary school level are as follows:
- The subject of National Defense and Security Education plays a key role in educating students about the awareness and responsibilities of citizens in performing the task of building an all-people national defense, public security, and contributing to educating students' patriotism, love for socialism, and nurturing national pride and sovereignty.
Along with other subjects and educational activities, this subject contributes to forming in students the qualities and general competencies as prescribed in the overall program, through the content of the subject forming the capability to perceive issues of national defense and security and applying the learned knowledge into life.
- At the primary and secondary education levels, national defense and security education is integrated through the content of the subjects in the program, combined with extracurricular activities appropriate to the age group, ensuring that students build initial understanding of the nation's traditions of building and defending the country, the people's armed forces, discipline, solidarity, love for the country, and love for the people.
- At the upper secondary school level, it is a compulsory subject, ensuring that students have initial understanding of the all-people national defense, public security; the nation's tradition of fighting against foreign invaders, the people's armed forces, and Vietnam's military art; basic and necessary knowledge on civil defense and military skills; ready to perform military service to defend the country.
