Pursuant to the List of Grade 12 Textbooks used in general educational institutions issued with Decision 88/QD-BGDDT in 2024, and the List of Grade 12 Textbooks used in general educational institutions issued with Decision 704/QD-BGDDT in 2024, the complete list of Grade 12 textbooks for 2024 includes 57 textbooks.

What are conditions for the content of grade 12 textbooks in Vietnam?

According to Article 5 of the Regulations on standards, processes of compiling, modifying textbooks; standards for organizations and individuals compiling textbooks; organization and activities of the National Council for Textbook Appraisal issued with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT, the contents of Grade 12 textbooks must meet the following conditions:

- The contents of the textbooks must accurately and fully reflect the content of the subject program or educational activity; ensure fundamental, scientific, practical aspects, and be suitable for the reality of Vietnam.

- Terms, concepts, definitions, data, events, images must ensure accuracy, objectivity, consistency, and be suitable for the students' level; data, events, images must have clear origins.

- New scientific achievements related to the subject program, educational activities must be updated, meeting international integration requirements and suitable to the objectives of the subject program, educational activities.

- Educational contents about national sovereignty, human rights, child rights, gender equality, sustainable development, environmental protection, and adaptation to climate change must be reasonably reflected.

What are procedures for compiling and modifying Grade 12 textbooks in Vietnam?

According to Clause Article 9 of the Regulations on standards, processes of compiling, modifying textbooks; standards for organizations and individuals compiling textbooks; organization and activities of the National Council for Textbook Appraisal issued with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (amended and supplemented by Clause 2 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT):

(1) Process for compiling Grade 12 textbooks

Step 1: The organization or individual compiling textbooks chooses authors to compile textbooks who meet the standards specified in Article 11 of Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT; authors study the general education programs issued by the Minister of Education and Training to develop an overall outline, detailed outline, compilation plan; assign tasks for chief editor, editor-in-chief (if any), and authors ensuring suitability in workload and completion time to ensure quality and progress of textbook sample completion;

Step 2: The organization or individual compiling textbooks organizes the compilation, editing, design, illustration, completion of at least one lesson, conducts pilot teaching, collects feedback after the pilot teaching to perfect the lesson with the participation and agreement of all authors before organizing the compilation of other lessons; organizes the compilation, editing, design, illustration, pilot teaching, collects feedback from teachers, educational administrators, scholars, educators knowledgeable about general education to comment and evaluate the textbook sample according to the content of each clause specified in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (specific requirements in the Textbook Evaluation Criteria attached to this Circular); complete the textbook sample and send it to the Ministry of Education and Training for appraisal;

Step 3: The Ministry of Education and Training organizes the appraisal of the textbook sample according to the regulations in Chapter 4 of Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT;

Step 4: The organization or individual compiling textbooks completes the textbook sample after appraisal;

Step 5: The Minister of Education and Training approves and allows the use of textbooks;

Step 6: The organization or individual compiling textbooks organizes the publication and distribution of textbooks according to legal regulations.

(2) Process for modifying Grade 12 textbooks

- During use, textbooks may be modified;

- The process for modifying textbooks follows the process for compiling textbooks specified in Clause 1 Article 9 of the Regulations issued with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 2 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT) except for the textbook pilot. In cases where pilot modification is necessary, the Minister of Education and Training will make the decision.

Note: The Minister of Education and Training makes specific decisions on the process for compiling and modifying textbooks mentioned above for textbooks using state budget funds.
