1. The levels of education and ages of general education are stipulated as follows:

a) Primary education is conducted over 5 years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age of students enrolling in first grade is 6 years old, counted by year;

b) Lower secondary education is conducted over 4 years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students enrolling in grade six must have completed the primary education program. The age of students enrolling in grade six is 11 years old, counted by year;

Thus, 6th grade students are 11 years old, except for cases where students repeat a grade, advance a grade, or study at an age higher than the prescribed age.
