Core Preschool Teacher
- Criteria for selecting a core preschool teacher
a) Must be a preschool teacher with at least 05 years of direct experience in performing care and education duties for children at preschool education facilities up to the time of selection;
b) Must be evaluated according to the preschool teacher professional standards at a level of fair or higher, with criteria 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 achieving a good level;
c) Must have the ability to design and implement model educational activities, organize seminars, workshops, and training on renewing content, methods, and forms of organizing care and education for preschool-aged children for school colleagues or on a campus-wide basis;
d) Must have the ability to use foreign languages, apply information technology, and utilize technology equipment in organizing care and education activities for children and training teachers;
e) Must have the desire to become a core preschool teacher.
- Process for selecting a core preschool teacher
a) Preschool education facilities select and propose core preschool teachers and report to the upper-level management agency;
b) The head of the Department of Education and Training selects and approves the list of core preschool teachers according to authority; reports to the Department of Education and Training;
c) The Director of the Department of Education and Training selects and approves the list of core preschool teachers according to authority; reports to the Ministry of Education and Training upon request.

- Teachers self-evaluate on a cycle of once a year at the end of the academic year.
- The head of the preschool education facility organizes teacher evaluations on a cycle of once every two years at the end of the academic year.
- In special cases as required by upper-level management, preschool education facilities may shorten the teacher evaluation cycle.

What are the duties of a core preschool teacher in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 3, Article 12 of the Regulations issued with Circular 26/2018/TT-BGDDT, the duties of a core preschool teacher include:
- Support, counsel colleagues in the preschool education facility or facilities on matters related to ensuring and enhancing the quality of care and education for preschool-aged children;
- Compile training materials, provide guidance (for teachers, parents, guardians of children); organize guidance for student internship and practical teaching; connect with faculty members in early childhood education departments to exchange knowledge about nurturing, caring for, and educating children;
- Guide and support colleagues in the school or other schools on campus on activities of building and implementing the school's educational plans; plans for nurturing and health care activities, plans for educating children in groups or classes;
- On the implementation of teacher training courses and online training; on fostering and participating in professional competence enhancement training for the faculty team in or across schools on campus; participate in training and fostering teachers as per the annual requirements of the industry (district, department, Ministry);
- Advise and consult with the direct management about drafting the educational plan of the school suitable to specific school conditions and the socio-economic situation of the locality to ensure objectives, quality care, education for children, and enhancement of the professional competence of the teaching staff;
- Participate in organizing and reporting professional activities at themed conferences, professional activity sessions of preschool education facilities or facilities on campus.
