On January 15, 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced its enrollment plan for undergraduate programs in 2025 2025.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to admit 9,680 students based on three methods:

- Talent admission accounting for approximately 20% of the target;

- Admission based on the Thinking Assessment Exam scores accounting for approximately 40% of the target;

- Admission based on the high school graduation exam scores in 2025, accounting for about 40% of the target.

(1) For the talent admission

Hanoi University of Science and Technology directly admits outstanding students according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admits students based on international certificates; selection based on competency profiles combined with interviews.

(2) For admission based on the Thinking Assessment Exam scores

This method is for candidates participating in the Thinking Assessment Exam organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The eligibility conditions are:

- Candidates must have graduated from upper seocondary education,

- Achieve the TSA score threshold set by Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

(3) For admission based on the high school graduation exam scores in 2025

Candidates participate in the 2025 high school graduation exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. The eligibility condition is that candidates must have graduated from upper secondary education and achieved the minimum admission score set by Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology retains 10 admission combinations and core subjects as in previous years, including A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, and D29. Additionally, a combination K01 is added, including Mathematics and Literature as two mandatory subjects, combined with one of the four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science, with an additional factor.

Moreover, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to offer 65 training programs, including 37 standard programs (standard programs), 23 high-quality Elitech programs, 2 PFIEV programs, and 3 international joint training programs. Among them, there is a new program in Chinese Language Science and Engineering.

- For foreign language subjects, Hanoi University of Science and Technology stipulates that applicants with VSTEP English certificates or international English certificates (registered and verified in the system) can convert them into English subject scores when applying based on high school graduation exam scores (combinations A01, D01, D04, D07) and receive bonus points when applying through the talent admission or the Thinking Assessment Exam score method.

- For candidates applying to programs taught in English, such as FL1 (English for Science and Technology) and FL3 (Chinese Language Science and Engineering), besides the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods), candidates need to meet one of the following English proficiency or equivalent foreign language conditions: Have a VSTEP English certificate at B1 level or higher; an IELTS (academic) score of 5.0 or higher or equivalent; a 2025 high school graduation exam English score of 6.5 or higher.

- For candidates applying to international joint training programs, including TROY-BA, TROY-IT, and FL2 (International Professional English), aside from the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods), candidates need to meet one of the following English proficiency conditions: Have a VSTEP English certificate at B2 level or higher; an IELTS (academic) score of 5.5 or higher or equivalent.

What are the general requirements for enrollment for undergraduate programs in Vietnam?

Under Article 3 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, general requirements for enrollment for undergraduate programs are as follows:

- Training institutions execute their autonomy and accountability in enrollment, ensure legality, and bear responsibility before the law.

- Each training institution takes all necessary measures to create favorable conditions and equal opportunities for all candidates; and selects candidates with aspirations and capacities most suitable to the demands of the training major/program.

- Training institutions closely coordinate under the assistance and supervision of the Ministry of Education and Training to ensure consistency, coherence, and connectivity within the system; and help enhance the admission quality and efficiency of each training institution and the entire system.

What are the fundamental principles in enrollment for undergraduate programs in Vietnam?

Under Article 4 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the fundamental principles in enrollment for undergraduate programs in Vietnam are as follows:

(1) Fairness towards candidates

- Regarding information provision: Each interested candidate is provided with complete, clear, reliable, consistent, and prompt information to make suitable decisions and prepare best for participation in the enrollment process;

- Regarding the opportunity to apply: No candidate is deprived of the opportunity to apply due to irrelevant regulations concerning level, capacity (except for specific regulations by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense in the fields of defense, and security); or due to cumbersome, costly enrollment process;

- Regarding competency assessment: Candidates must be objectively, fairly, and reliably assessed regarding learning ability and potential for success, meeting the training major/program's demands;

- Regarding admission opportunity: Candidates must be given the highest opportunity for admission and the right to prioritize their preferences within eligible programs and fields of study;

- Regarding commitment fulfillment: Training institutions must fulfill commitments to candidates; provide counseling, and support, and resolve complaints, protecting candidates' legitimate rights in risky situations.

(2) Equality among training institutions

- Regarding cooperation: Training institutions collaborate equally to enhance enrollment quality and efficiency while providing the best benefits for candidates;

- Regarding competition: Training institutions fairly and honestly compete in enrollment according to the laws governing competition.

(3) Transparency to society

- Regarding information transparency: Training institutions are responsible for publicly announcing complete, clear, and prompt enrollment information through suitable media for societal and governmental oversight;

- Regarding accountability: Training institutions are responsible for reporting as required by governing bodies and explaining to society via suitable means on major issues causing public concern.
