What are the guidelines for preparing the shortest lesson "Dục Thúy Sơn"?

1. Introduction of the author and the work

- Nguyen Trai (1380 – 1442) was a cultural celebrity, a politician, a military strategist, and an outstanding poet of Vietnam. His poetry is rich in patriotic sentiment, closely tied to nature and people.

- The poem "Dục Thúy Sơn" is about the Duc Thuy mountain (Ninh Binh), a place with picturesque landscapes and a stele left by the renowned scholar, Truong Han Sieu (Truong Thieu Bao).

Question 1: How is the beauty of Duc Thuy mountain described? Identify the author's unique descriptive techniques in the two descriptive lines of the poem.

- The beauty of Duc Thuy mountain: The author compares it to a "lotus blooming atop the water" and a "fairyland descending to the earthly realm." This signifies that "Dục Thúy Sơn" is not only ethereally beautiful, pure, and sublime but also harmoniously blends with the rivers, skies, and land, like a precious gem amidst the earthly realm.

- The unique descriptive techniques in the two descriptive lines:

+ Nguyen Trai uses the metaphor of comparison to highlight the pure and precious beauty of the mountain: "Liên hoa phù thủy thượng" (Like a lotus blooming atop the water).

+ Additionally, the image “Tiên cảnh truỵ nhân gian” (Fairyland descending to the earthly realm) is allegorical, elevating the exquisite beauty of nature in this place.

+ This metaphorical approach not only helps the reader vividly envision Duc Thuy mountain but also evokes an ethereal and transcendental feeling.

Question 2: What artistic techniques did the author use in the two commentary lines? What emotional effects do the images “trâm thanh ngọc”, “kính thúy hoàn” convey?

- Artistic techniques used:

+ Metaphor: The images "trâm thanh ngọc" (jade green hairpin) and "kính thúy hoàn" (emerald mirror) not only describe nature but also carry symbolic significance of eternal, noble beauty.

+ Contrast: Light on the waves is likened to a "reflective mirror," contrasting with the silent tower shadow, creating a harmonious picture of dynamic and static.

- Emotional effects of the images:

+ Trâm thanh ngọc: Evokes the elegant and exquisite beauty of Duc Thuy mountain, likening the mountain to precious jewelry adorning the sky.

+ Kính thúy hoàn: Reflects the shimmering, transparent quality of the water surface, mirroring the sky's blue, creating a poetic and mystical sensation.

- These two images not only describe the scenery but also express the author's admiration for nature, viewing it as an eternal beauty.

Question 3: Indicate the emotional flow of the author in the poem. Why does the author mention Truong Thieu Bao in the conclusion? What is the significance of this?

The emotional flow in the poem:

- Opening: Nguyen Trai introduces Duc Thuy mountain with pride and attachment.

- Development: He praises the beauty of nature, comparing it to fairy scenes, expressing admiration.

- Conclusion: Shifts to feelings of nostalgia and regret when mentioning Truong Thieu Bao – the scholar who left his mark there.

Significance of mentioning Truong Thieu Bao:

- Truong Han Sieu (Truong Thieu Bao) was the one who praised and left stone stele inscriptions about "Dục Thúy Sơn".

- The image "bia khắc tiển hoa ban" (stone stele speckled with moss) evokes the fading of time, expressing sorrow at the transience of human life.

- This reflects the philosophy of impermanence, while also expressing Nguyen Trai's gratitude and respect toward the predecessors.

Question 4: Which image in the poem leaves the deepest impression on you?

The image that leaves the deepest impression on me is "Liên hoa phù thủy thượng" (Like a lotus blooming atop the water). Because:

- The image of the lotus evokes a sublime, ethereal beauty that is nevertheless close to human life. This comparison makes me think of the harmonious beauty of Vietnam's nature, where people can merge with and enjoy peace and poetry.

- At the same time, it also reflects Nguyen Trai's artistic style – both delicate and embedded with deep philosophy about the tranquility and eternity of nature.
