What are the exercises to identify subject, predicate, and adverbial in sentences?

Subject, predicate, and adverbial are three basic components in sentence structure, each having different roles:

(1) Subject

- The subject is the component in the sentence that denotes the person, thing, or event performing the action or being affected by the action.

- The subject is usually a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase.

- The subject answers the question "Who?" or "What?".

(2) Predicate

- The predicate is the component that describes the action or state of the subject.

- The predicate usually includes the verb (action), which may have an object or adverbial accompanying it.

- The predicate answers the questions "Do what?", "How?", or "Where?".

(3) Adverbial

- The adverbial is the component in the sentence indicating the time, place, manner, or purpose of the action in the sentence.

- The adverbial can be a word, phrase, or clause.

- The adverbial answers the questions "When?", "Where?", "How?", "Why?".

(4) How to Distinguish Subject, Predicate, and Adverbial:

- The subject is usually the person or thing performing or affected by the action in the sentence.

- The predicate is the component that describes the action or state of the subject, and it often includes the verb.

- The adverbial specifies the time, place, manner, or purpose of the action, and can often be changed without affecting the meaning of the sentence.
