Pursuant to Article 8 of the regulations on working policies for general education teachers issued in conjunction with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDDT (supplemented by Clause 8 Article 1 of Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDDT), it is regulated as follows:
Regime for Reducing Teaching Periods for Part-time Teachers
1. Homeroom teachers at the primary level are reduced by 3 periods/week, at the secondary and high school level, they are reduced by 4 periods/week.
2. Homeroom teachers at ethnic boarding schools at the secondary and high school levels are reduced by 4 periods/week. Homeroom teachers at specialized schools and semi-boarding schools are reduced by 4 periods/week. Homeroom teachers at schools and classes for the disabled are reduced by 3 periods/week.
2a. Homeroom teachers at university preparatory schools are reduced by 3 periods/week.
3. Teachers concurrently in charge of subject classrooms are reduced by 3 periods/subject/week.
4. Teachers concurrently in charge of school-wide cultural, sports activities, school gardens, school workshops, equipment rooms, and libraries (if these tasks do not have specialized staff) are reduced from 2 to 3 periods/week depending on the workload, as decided by the principal.
5. Subject group leaders are reduced by 3 periods/week.
5a. Deputy subject leaders are reduced by 1 period/week.
5b. Teachers concurrently heading functional departments at university preparatory schools are reduced by 3 periods/week;
Teachers concurrently deputy heads of functional departments at university preparatory schools are reduced by 1 period/week.
Accordingly, part-time homeroom teachers in lower secondary schools will be reduced by 4 periods/week.

b) 05 weeks for professional development and training.
c) 01 week for preparing the new academic year.
d) 01 week for concluding the academic year.
2. The working time of secondary and high school teachers in an academic year is 42 weeks, including:
a) 37 weeks for teaching and educational activities as per the academic year schedule.
b) 03 weeks for professional development and training.
c) 01 week for preparing the new academic year.
d) 01 week for concluding the academic year.
2a. The working time of teachers at university preparatory schools is 42 weeks, including:
a) 28 weeks for teaching and educational activities as per the academic year schedule;
b) 12 weeks for professional development, curriculum development, scientific research, and other activities as per the academic year schedule;
c) 01 week for preparing the new academic year;
d) 01 week for concluding the academic year.

Pursuant to Clause 3 Article 5 of the regulations on working policies for general education teachers issued in conjunction with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 4 Article 1 of Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDDT), it is regulated as follows:

3. The annual leave time of teachers includes summer break, Lunar New Year holidays, semester break, and other holidays. To be specific:
a) The annual summer break for teachers is 02 months (including the annual leave as per the Labor Code), during which they receive full salary and allowances (if any).
b) The Lunar New Year holidays and semester breaks are per the regulations of the Minister of Education and Training;
c) Other holidays as stipulated in the Labor Code.
Based on the academic year schedule, size, characteristics, and specific conditions of each school, the Principal shall arrange the annual leave time for teachers reasonably and appropriately.
Thus, the annual summer break of secondary school teachers is 02 months (including the annual leave as per the Labor Code 2019), during which they receive full salary and allowances (if any).
