What are the requirements satisfied by students in the integration of national defense and security education in Vietnam?
Under Article 5 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BGDDT, the requirements satisfied by students in the integration of national defense and security education in Vietnam are:
(1) General requirements
- Required traits
Foster and develop in students traits such as patriotism, compassion, honesty, responsibility, diligence; awareness, and responsibility as citizens in building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
- Required capabilities
Cultivate and develop in students the capabilities of autonomy, self-directed learning; communication, and cooperation; creatively solving problems through specific competencies: basic understanding of national defense and security; applying learned knowledge and skills to life.
(2) Specific requirements
- Primary students
+ Develop awareness of love for the homeland and the country; gratitude towards those who have contributed to the revolution, the nation; love, care, and attention for family members; respect teachers, be fond of and assist friends.
+ Discipline, cultivate solidarity, ethics, and serious demeanor in learning, labor, and daily activities.
+ Consciously maintain good habits, hygiene, physical training; actively follow school rules and legal regulations.
- Lower secondary students
+ Know the tradition of fighting invaders through historical periods of establishing the country; the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the Vietnam People's Public Security, and Militia and Self-Defense Forces; territorial sovereignty, maritime, island, and national border security; basic content in the people's movement to protect national security.
+ Form awareness about national defense and security at a basic level, students' responsibilities towards the mission to protect the Fatherland and maintain social order and safety.
+ Have pride, national self-esteem, love for the Fatherland, love for fellow citizens, a sense of discipline, solidarity, and voluntarily adhere to the law.
What are the principles for the integration of national defense and security education content in Vietnam?
Under Article 2 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BGDDT, the principles for the integration of national defense and security education content in Vietnam are as follows:
- Ensuring conformity with the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the policies, and laws of the State.
- Ensuring the goal of building, developing thinking, fostering life skills, human character of the Vietnamese people, patriotism, love for the people, love for socialism, national pride, and self-respect concerning the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders, defending the Fatherland of the nation, having a sense of organizational discipline, the spirit of solidarity; integrated content being focused and emphasized through appropriate methods and forms.
- Integrating national defense and security education content in primary schools and secondary schools must be suitable for the psychological and physiological characteristics of age; conducted through the content of subjects and educational activities; ensuring consistency between educational levels and not altering the regulations on the general education curriculum framework for each educational level.
