What is the announcement of the illustrative question papers for the competency assessment exam 2025 held by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education?

On the morning of December 9, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education officially announced a change in the structure of the question papers for the competency assessment exam. To be specific:

- The Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology question papers consist of 40 questions, divided into 3 sections, instead of 50 questions with 2 sections as before.

- The Literature question paper includes 22 questions in 3 parts: reading comprehension (multiple choice); writing a short paragraph; essay writing. The short paragraph writing is a new feature compared to previous years' tests.

- The English question paper remains unchanged, consisting of 4 sections: listening, speaking, reading, writing. The materials are sourced from various fields.

The question papers will closely align with the 2018 General Education Program, with around 70-80% of the content from grade 12, and the remainder from grades 10 and 11. Students take the papers on computers with each subject lasting 90 minutes.

The results of the competency assessment exam will account for 40-50% of the enrollment targets at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. Students must take at least two papers, with one main paper (depending on the combination). The admission score is the total of the main subject score multiplied by a factor of two, plus the other paper.

What is the standard on recruitment and training at higher education institutions in Vietnam?

Under Section 2 of the Standards for higher education institutions issued together with Circular 01/2024/TT-BGDDT, the standard on recruitment and training at higher education institutions in Vietnam is specified as follows:

Criterion 5.1. The average ratio of enrolled students to annual enrolment target over the last 3 years is at least 50%; The training scale is not downsized by more than 30% compared to the last 3 years, unless the downsizing is part of the development orientation of the higher education institution.

Criterion 5.2. The dropout rate, which is the annual ratio of undergraduate students who stop studying in the year, does not exceed 10%. The first-year dropout rate does not exceed 15%.

Criterion 5.3. The graduation ratio, which is the ratio of students who graduate late by less than 2 years from the normal graduation time, is at least 60%; the on-time graduation ratio is at least 40%.

Criterion 5.4. The ratio of students who are satisfied with lecturers in terms of teaching quality and effectiveness is not lower than 70%; the ratio of graduates who are satisfied with the overall study process and experience is not lower than 70%.

Criterion 5.5. The ratio of university graduates who have jobs that match their education, are self-employed or take postgraduate courses within 12 months is not lower than 70%.

Under Clause 1 of Article 8 of Circular 17/2021/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for structure and content of an undergraduate program in Vietnam are specified as follows:

- Specify the role of each component and unit of study as well as logical connection and mutual complementation between components and units of study with the aim of achieving the general objectives and requirements of the training program;

- List out general specialized and professional requirements and characteristics of the field of training and/or academic discipline group at the education level, facilitating bridge programs between academic disciplines and education levels; concurrently, elaborate specific requirements and characteristics of the academic discipline.

- Stipulate major components compulsory for all learners; concurrently, provide additional and optional components that learners may choose according to their career plans;

- Provide guidance for learners in a flexible manner; enable learners to draw up their own study plans as suitable for their capacity and personal circumstances.
