Which candidates are eligible for direct admission to universities in Vietnam?

Based on Article 8 of the University Admission Regulations, college admission in the field of Preschool Education issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the candidates eligible for direct admission to universities include:

- Labor Heroes, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, National Emulation Fighters can be directly admitted to the fields and programs defined by the university;

- Individuals with high achievements in national or international competitions or sports tournaments, organized or delegated by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, can be directly admitted in the year of high school graduation (or intermediate graduation) into relevant fields according to their competition subjects, topics, or professions; specifically in the following cases:

+ Candidates winning first, second, or third prize in national or international excellent student exams or national or international science and technology contests organized or delegated by the Ministry of Education and Training; prizes must have been awarded within 3 years up to the time of direct admission consideration;

+ Candidates winning official awards in international art competitions in singing, dancing, music, and fine arts recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; prizes must have been awarded within 4 years up to the time of direct admission consideration;

+ Candidates who are part of national teams participating in international official tournaments confirmed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to have completed their tasks, including: World Championships, World Cups, Olympic Games, Asian Games (ASIAD), Asian Championships, Asian Cups, Southeast Asian Championships, Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), Southeast Asian Cups; prizes must have been awarded within 4 years up to the time of direct admission consideration;

+ Candidates winning first, second, or third prizes in regional ASEAN and international vocational skills competitions delegated by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; prizes must have been awarded within 3 years up to the time of direct admission consideration.

What are the basic principles of university admission in Vietnam?

Based on Article 4 of the University Admission Regulations, college admission in the field of Preschool Education issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the basic principles of university admission are as follows:

- Fairness to candidates

+ With regards to providing information: Every interested candidate must be provided full, clear, reliable, consistent, and promptly information to make appropriate decisions and best prepare for admission participation;

+ With regards to admission opportunities: No candidate should lose the opportunity to apply due to non-related regulations to their qualifications, capabilities (except regulations of the Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Defense specific to national defense and security); or due to cumbersome and costly admission processes;

+ With regards to capability assessment: Candidates must be objectively, fairly, and reliably evaluated on their learning ability and potential to succeed, meeting the requirements of the programs and fields of study;

+ With regards to admission chances: Candidates must be given the highest possible chance of admission and the right to determine their priority in available programs and fields of study for which they qualify;

+ With regards to fulfilling commitments: Training institutions must honor commitments to candidates; provide consultation, support, and resolve complaints, protecting the legitimate rights of candidates in risky situations.

- Equality among training institutions

+ With regards to cooperation: Training institutions cooperate equally to enhance the quality and effectiveness of admissions, bringing the best benefits to candidates;

+ With regards to competition: Training institutions compete honestly, fairly, and transparently in admissions in accordance with competition law.

- Transparency to society

+ With regards to information transparency: Training institutions are responsible for publishing full, clear, and prompt admission information through appropriate media for societal and government supervision;

+ With regards to accountability: Training institutions are responsible for reporting as required by government agencies and explaining to society through suitable forms about major issues, causing public concern.

What are the university admission methods in Vietnam?

Based on Article 6 of the University Admission Regulations, college admission in the field of Preschool Education issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Admission Methods

  1. Training institutions may decide on one or several admission methods (exams, selection, or a combination of exams and selection), applied generally to all training institutions or specifically to certain programs, fields, and forms of training. A program or field of training can use multiple admission methods.
  1. Each admission method must clearly define the evaluation, selection criteria, and the way to combine the criteria to classify, rank, and determine the admission conditions for candidates according to the requirements of the training program and field. Evaluation and selection criteria must be based on the fundamental knowledge and core competencies that candidates need to follow the program and field of study.

- Exams;

- Selection;

- Combination of exams and selection.
