Can additional admission be considered if admission confirmation is already done?

Based on Clause 4, Article 21 of the Higher Education and Preschool Education College Admission Regulations issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Notification of results and admission confirmation

1. The educational institution sends the admission notification to the candidates who have been admitted, clearly indicating the necessary procedures for the candidates upon admission and the method of admission.

2. Candidates confirm their admission online before reporting to the educational institution.

3. For candidates who do not confirm their admission within the prescribed period:

a) If there is no legitimate reason, the candidates are considered to have declined the admission and the educational institution has the right not to accept them;

b) If due to illness, accident, with a certificate from a district-level hospital or higher, or due to a natural disaster with confirmation from the district-level People's Committee or higher, the educational institution will consider to admit the candidate or reserve the admission result for future enrollment;

c) If due to errors or confusion by the admission staff or the candidate, the educational institution will proactively cooperate with the relevant individuals and organizations to verify the evidence and decide on the candidate’s admission or reserve the admission result for future enrollment.

4. Candidates who have confirmed their admission at one educational institution are not allowed to participate in the admission process elsewhere or in additional admission rounds, unless permitted by the educational institution.

Thus, candidates who have confirmed their admission are not allowed to participate in additional admission rounds unless permitted by the educational institution.

When will universities in Vietnam announce additional admissions?

Based on the 2024 Higher Education and Preschool Education College Admission Plan issued together with Decision 1139/QD-BGDDT in 2024:

Universities will announce additional admissions from August 28, 2024.

The period for universities to conduct additional admission and update the list of admitted students runs from September to December 2024.

Specific times will be regulated by each university.

Will the admission scores in the additional admissions be lower than in round 1?

Based on Article 22 of the Higher Education and Preschool Education College Admission Regulations issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Organization of registration and selection for additional admissions

1. Based on the admission quotas and the number of candidates confirmed for admission in the sectors, training programs, the admission council of the educational institution will consider and decide on additional admissions. The institution announces the plan, method, and registration form for additional admission; the selection conditions for sectors and training programs for each selection method must not be lower than the previous admission conditions.

2. Candidates who have not been admitted or have been admitted but have not confirmed admission to any place can register for additional admission according to the plan and guidance of the educational institution.

3. At the end of each admission round, the institution will publish on its website the admission scores (and additional conditions and criteria if available) for the sectors and training programs by the selection methods; facilitate candidates to check their admission results; send the admission notification and guidelines to admitted candidates for enrollment.

According to the regulations, the selection conditions for sectors and training programs for each selection method must not be lower than the previous admission conditions.

Thus, admission scores for sectors and training programs in additional admission rounds will not be lower than the admission scores for round 1.
