Regulations on Announcing Results and Confirming Admission for Regular University System in 2024 in Vietnam

Based on Article 21 of the University and College Admission Regulation in Preschool Education (Regulation) issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the notification and confirmation of admission for the regular university system in 2024 are as follows:

- Training institutions send admission notifications to successful candidates, specifying the necessary procedures for candidates when enrolling and the enrollment method of the candidates.

- Candidates confirm admission online on the system before enrolling at the training institution.

- For candidates who do not confirm admission to the university in 2024 within the prescribed time limit:

+ If there is no legitimate reason, it is considered that the candidate has declined admission, and the training institution has the right not to accept them;

+ If due to illness, accident, with a certificate from a district-level hospital or higher, or due to natural disasters with certification from the district People's Committee or higher, the training institution will consider accepting the candidate or deferring admission for the candidate;

+ If due to mistakes or confusion by the admission officers or the candidate themselves, the training institution will actively cooperate with relevant individuals and organizations to consider evidence and decide to accept the candidate or defer admission.

What are principles of regular university admission in 2024 in Vietnam?

Based on Clause 3, Article 20 of the Regulation issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, four principles for regular university admission in 2024 must be adhered to as follows:

- The admission scores are determined so that the number of admitted candidates for each major or training program matches the announced quotas, but not lower than the entry threshold;

- For one training major (or one training program) by one method and subject combination, all candidates are selected equally according to the admission score, regardless of the priority order of registration desires, except for the case specified in point c of this clause.

- In case many candidates have the same admission score at the end of the list, the training institution can use the additional criterion of desire order (to select candidates with higher desire order).

- Using the priority scores for region, subject to ensure uniformity and consistency with the priority score regulations specified in Article 7 of the Regulation issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT.

What are the regulations on developing a regular university admission plan in Vietnam?

Based on Article 16 of the Regulation issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on developing a regular university admission plan are as follows:

- The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issues a general plan for the first round of regular admission for training institutions to coordinate and implement the processes:

+ Register for admission on the MOET's Admission Information Portal (hereinafter referred to as the system for the scope of this chapter) and on the National Public Service Portal;

+ Organize admission at the training institution according to the methods using high school graduation exam results or high school academic results or exam and evaluation results of the candidate;

+ Process desires on the system (under a loop cycle combined with the admission process at the training institution);

+ Confirm admission on the system and enroll at the training institution.

- Based on the general plan, training institutions develop a straight admission plan, an early admission plan for some specific admission methods, and a supplementary admission plan (if any).
