What is the entrance fee for Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City?

Pursuant to Article 4 of Circular 182/2016/TT-BTC, the entrance fee for the historical monument Independence Palace is stipulated as follows:

- For adults: 40,000 VND/person/visit.

- For university, college, intermediate school, and vocational school students: 20,000 VND/person/visit.

Students refer to individuals possessing student cards issued by educational institutions within Vietnam's national education system.

- For children; students in general education institutions: 10,000 VND/person/visit.

+ Children are individuals aged from 6 to under 16. In cases where it is difficult to determine if someone is under 16 years of age, a birth certificate, passport, identity card, or any other document proving the person is under 16 must be presented.

+ Students are those with student cards issued by schools within Vietnam's national education system.

Who is exempt from the entrance fee for Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City?

According to Article 5 of Circular 182/2016/TT-BTC, the subjects exempted from and eligible for reduced entrance fees are stipulated as follows:

Subjects exempted and reduced fees

  1. Exemption from entrance fees for delegation visits as delegates, guests of the Communist Party, and State agencies; children under six years old and severely disabled individuals as specified in Clause 1 Article 11 of Decree No. 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, by the Government of Vietnam regarding the details and guidance for the implementation of some articles of the Disability Law.
  1. A 50% reduction in entrance fees for the historical monument Independence Palace for the following cases:

a) Beneficiaries of policies promoting cultural enjoyment as specified in Article 2 of Decision No. 170/2003/QD-TTg dated August 14, 2003, by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam on "Policies promoting cultural enjoyment". If it is difficult to determine the eligibility for cultural enjoyment policies as per Article 2 of Decision No. 170/2003/QD-TTg, a certification from the Commune People's Committee where the individual resides is required.

b) Elderly individuals as specified in Decree No. 06/2011/ND-CP dated January 14, 2011, by the Government of Vietnam regarding the details and guidance for the implementation of some articles of the Elderly Law.

c) Severely disabled individuals as specified in Clause 2 Article 11 of Decree No. 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, by the Government of Vietnam regarding the details and guidance for the implementation of some articles of the Disability Law.

In cases where visitors fall under more than one fee reduction policy specified in points a, b, and c of this clause, they are only entitled to a 50% reduction in entrance fees for the historical monument Independence Palace.

From the above regulations, it can be seen that those exempt from the entrance fee for Independence Palace include:

- Delegation visits as delegates, guests of the Communist Party, and State agencies;

- Children under six years old and severely disabled individuals.

What are the current Government policies on protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in Vietnam?

According to Article 3 of Decree 98/2010/ND-CP, current Government policies on protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage are prescribed as follows:

- Develop and implement targeted programs to conserve exemplary cultural heritages.

- Reward organizations and individuals for their achievements in protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage; bestow honorary state titles and implement preferential policies, both spiritually and materially, for artists and craftsmen who hold and disseminate traditional arts and valuable professional secrets.

- Research and apply scientific and technological advancements in the following activities:

+ Archaeological exploration and excavation; preservation, restoration, maintenance, and promotion of historical site values;

+ Appraisal, management, collection, preservation of artifacts, adjustment, and renewal of content, display format, and educational activities of museums;

+ Collection, preservation, and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage values; establish a database bank for intangible cultural heritage.

- Train and develop a team of professional staff in the field of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage.

- Encourage and facilitate contributions both spiritually and materially from domestic and international organizations and individuals, or their direct participation in activities to protect and promote the value of cultural heritage.

- Expand forms of international cooperation in the realm of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage; develop and implement international cooperation projects in compliance with the law.
