The Prime Minister agreed with the proposal from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for the Lunar New Year holiday for officials, employees, and public servants as follows:

- For the Lunar New Year 2025, officials and public employees will have a continuous 9-day holiday, including 5 days for the New Year and 4 routine days off.

- Specifically, officials and public employees, and workers, will have a 5-day holiday for the Lunar New Year from Monday, January 27, 2025, to Friday, January 31, 2025 (from 2nd day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar8 of the Year of the Dragon to the 3rd of the Lunar New Year of the Snake).

- However, since in 2025, all 5 days of the Lunar New Year holiday fall on working days during the week, employees will receive an additional 2 weekend days off before and 2 days after the holiday.

Agencies and units must arrange staff to be on duty as per regulations and work appropriately to ensure continuous service for organizations and the public, with particular attention given to assigning officials for handling unforeseen tasks during the Tet holiday period, as well as during other holiday periods as per regulations.

The ministries, agencies, and localities should have specific plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations, and individuals to actively implement production and business activities, ensuring the stability of supply and demand for goods, services, prices, and markets, contributing to promoting production, business growth, and economic growth, implementing savings, and avoiding wastefulness, striving to successfully achieve the objectives and tasks set out in the plan for 2025, which is considered a year for acceleration and breakthrough in the implementation of the 5-year plan from 2021 to 2025, and creating a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable development in the future.

Thus, Vietnamese tax officials will have a total of 9 days off for the 2025 Tet holiday. The holiday period will be from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (from 2nd day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar6 to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year).
