Recently, the Office of the Government of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 8726/VPCP-KGVX of 2024, communicating the directives of the Prime Minister regarding the Lunar New Year holiday and certain public holidays in 2025.

The Prime Minister agreed with the proposal by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs regarding the Lunar New Year holiday for officials, public servants, and employees as follows:

- For the Lunar New Year of 2025, officials and public employees are entitled to a 9-day consecutive holiday, which includes 5 days for Tet and 4 weekly rest days.

- Specifically, officials and public employees, and workers will have a 5-day Tet holiday, from Monday, January 27, 2025, to Friday, January 31, 2025 (from the 28th day of the 12th lunar month, the year of the Dragon, to the 3rd day of the 1st lunar month, the year of the Snake).

- However, since in 2025, all 5 Tet holidays fall on weekdays, workers will be given additional weekend rest days before and after the Tet holiday.

- Agencies and units will arrange for contingency staff according to regulations and work accordingly to ensure continuity in addressing work, providing good service to organizations and the people, particularly assigning officials on duty to handle unexpected and unforeseen tasks during the Tet and holiday periods as per regulations.

- Ministries, agencies, and localities will have specific plans and measures suitable to encourage units, enterprises, organizations, and individuals to actively and proactively implement production and business activities, ensure the balance of supply and demand for goods, services, pricing, and market stability, contributing to promoting production, business, economic growth, practicing thrift, combating waste, and striving to successfully achieve the goals and tasks of the 2025 plan, a pivotal year for acceleration and breakthrough in the implementation of the 5-year plan 2021-2025, creating a solid foundation and premise for rapid and sustainable development in the future.

Therefore, the Tet holiday schedule for 2025 for officials, public servants, and employees in the tax sector may begin from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (from the 26th day of the 12th lunar month to the end of the 5th day of the 1st lunar month).

Thus, tax officials start their Tet holiday from the 26th day of the 12th lunar month to the end of the 5th day of the 1st lunar month.

Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 10 of Circular 29/2022/TT-BTC, a principal tax inspector is an official with high-level expertise in the tax sector, assisting leadership in organizing tax management or directly implementing specific tasks of tax operations as assigned in units within the tax industry.
