The Vietnam National Wage Council has agreed to increase the region-based minimum wages by 5.3% in 2019. Specifically, Increased amounts in region-based minimum wages are 200,000 VND for Region I; 180,000 VND for Region II; and 160,000 VND for Region III and Region IV.
The regional minimum wage levels for localities are specifically stipulated in Decree 157/2018/ND-CP issued by the Government of Vietnam, which became effective on January 01, 2019. Additionally, this document has also modified the regional minimum wage levels in certain localities.
According to the Draft Decree on region-based minimum wages in 2019, the subregions applying region-based minimum wages in Vietnam have some adjustments. Notably, many districts in Region IV will apply the region-based minimum wage of Region I in 2019.
