The activities in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2024 include:
1. Issuance of guiding directive documents
The Steering Committee on AIDS, Drug, and Prostitution Control of ministries, sectors, central-party bodies, and provinces/cities will issue directive documents to guide subordinate units in implementing HIV/AIDS prevention activities in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2024.
2. Organizing communication activities in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2024
Depending on specific conditions, each locality or unit may consider and choose to organize communication activities in response to the Action Month. Specifically:
- Organizing a Launching Ceremony for the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2024
The ministries and central authorities, central-party bodies, and provinces/cities shall organize or integrate the organization of a Launching Ceremony for the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2024 into related events. The organization should take place before or on the opening day of the Action Month (November 10, 2024).
- Organizing a Rally in response to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control and World AIDS Day December 1
+ The Rally should be held at a time convenient for community mobilization.
+ Besides organizing the Rally, localities or units may organize coordinated activities during the Rally to mobilize community participation, such as public marches, walks, cycling events, running competitions, displays, exhibitions, music performances, theater performances, mobile film screenings, or organize gift-giving events for people living with HIV and those affected by HIV/AIDS, etc.
+ Apart from provincial and city-level Rallies and marches, depending on specific conditions, localities or units can organize media events to raise awareness and create a demand for appropriate HIV/AIDS services in districts, wards, schools, industrial zones, and residential communities to engage the entire community.
- Organizing communication activities
Mass media
Enhancing HIV/AIDS prevention communication on print newspapers, electronic news sites, provincial-level radio and television stations, district-level town radio and television stations, as well as commune and ward broadcasting systems through the development of special sections, columns, thematic discussions, reports, short films, integrating HIV/AIDS prevention content into entertainment programs, advertising programs, discussion programs, and interactions with celebrities...
Social media communication:
+ Enhancing HIV/AIDS prevention communication on social network systems such as (Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, Youtube, Viber, Lotus...); text messages; and other forms of Internet-based communication; through highly effective message delivery methods such as: Infographics, video clips, audio clips.
+ Connecting local social network pages with the social network pages of the HIV/AIDS Prevention Bureau such as: Vietnam HIV/AIDS Prevention Fanpage...
Direct communication and event-based communication
+ Organizing personal and group communication about HIV/AIDS in families and communities. Utilizing commune and village health forces as the core, assigning tasks and periodically monitoring and supervising communication outcomes and effectiveness.
+ Organizing communication events about HIV/AIDS and related content in schools, industrial zones... to attract the attention of young youth forces.
+ Integrating and enhancing communication and counseling through medical service facilities, especially those providing HIV/AIDS prevention services.
Providing information to journalists and communication officers writing about HIV/AIDS
+ Organizing meetings with journalists writing about HIV/AIDS to guide and provide information.
+ Organizing training to enhance capacity for local medical communication officers, with attention to commune and village levels.
+ Training communication, providing information for spokespersons and unit leaders, communication officers at all levels, especially those in healthcare facilities.
Producing and duplicating communication materials
+ Producing and duplicating communication materials in appropriate formats for distribution to service providers, communicators, HIV/AIDS prevention collaborators, to distribute to targeted audiences.
+ Building and promoting HIV/AIDS prevention messages through other media and communication materials: Building billboard clusters, slogans, hanging banners at public locations with high foot traffic such as main traffic roads, bus stations, parks; city gates, commune, ward, village entrances; and gates of agencies, units, schools, hospitals; Disseminating other HIV/AIDS prevention media publications like posters, leaflets, brochures on HIV/AIDS prevention.
3. Organizing professional activities (conferences, seminars, training courses...)
Depending on specific conditions, units and localities organize conferences, seminars, and training with the appropriate number of participants and forms, ensuring solemnity and cost-effectiveness. These conferences, seminars, and training courses focus on spreading the following contents:
+ Causes, transmission routes of HIV, preventive measures, and care and treatment methods for people living with HIV.
+ The impact of HIV/AIDS on health, human life, and the economic-social development of the country.
+ Rights and obligations of individuals, families, and people living with HIV in HIV/AIDS prevention.
+ Methods, services for HIV testing, care, support, and treatment of people living with HIV.
+ Responsibilities of agencies, organizations, people's armed units, and the community in HIV/AIDS prevention.
+ Harm reduction interventions in preventing HIV transmission.
+ Anti-stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
+ Policies, strategies of the Communist Party, and the state's laws on HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
