Theme of the 54th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition

In 2025, the theme of the UPU International Letter-Writing Competition is IMAGINE YOU ARE THE OCEAN. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take care and protect you well.

Purpose of the UPU Letter-Writing Competition:

Annually, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) organizes the International Letter-Writing Competition for children, aiming to:

- Contribute to the development of writing skills and enrich creative thinking among students.

- Help students approach and become aware of current social issues, allowing them to express their thoughts on these matters; instill and nurture feelings and responsibilities of the young generation towards society, the country, and the world.

- Help students understand more about the role of the postal service in everyday life and social development.

Participants: Vietnamese students aged 9 to 15 years (as of the time of submitting their entry).

Requirements for the competition letter:

- A creative work by the student, in prose form (not published in newspapers or books), not exceeding 800 words.

- If written in a foreign language, it must be accompanied by a Vietnamese translation. The Jury will judge based on the Vietnamese version.

- Clearly and neatly presented, handwritten on one side of the paper (note: do not write on the back, multiple pages can be used, pages should be numbered and clipped to avoid confusion). Typewritten or photocopied letters are not valid.

In the top left corner of the letter, the following information must be clearly written: Full name, date of birth, ethnicity, school address, class, district (town), province (city), phone number. Letters missing any of these details are not valid.

Submission Period: From November 11, 2024, to March 05, 2025 (according to the postmark).

Submission Address: Thiếu niên Tiền phong và Nhi đồng newspaper, No. 5, Hoa Ma Street, Pham Dinh Ho Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City.

Note: Competition letters must be placed in an envelope with a stamp, with both sender and recipient addresses, including postal code (11611), sent via Vietnam Post. The envelope should clearly state: Entry for the 54th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition (2025).

According to the organizers, participation is not mandatory for 100% of students in schools. All entries that are not stamped with postal stamps or not sent via Vietnam Post are not valid.

The copyright of the competition entries belongs to the Organizing Committee, and students should not publish their entries in newspapers, television, or social media until the Organizing Committee announces the results.
