Vietnam: COVID-19 prevention and control for employees at work

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Dispatch 6666/BYT-MT on Guidelines on COVID-19 epidemic management at workplaces, in which stipulates instructions on measures to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic for employees.

*Before arriving at workplaces

- Stringently comply with 5K principles; Monitor health and body temperature on a daily basis. Workers who display any of the symptoms such as fatigue, fever, coughing, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, etc. must stay at home, do not leave for work, and inform local authority.

- Prepare necessary personal equipment for working period or business trips such as drinking water, separate cups; tissues, face masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, etc.

- Do not go to work during medical quarantine period.

*At workplaces

General guidelines for workers

- Comply with 5K principles, especially wearing face masks and maintaining distance at workplaces, conferences, and public spaces according to regulations of the Government or National Steering Committee for COVID-19 epidemic management.

- Increase the use of remote communication devices to reduce physical contact.

- Clean working surface, equipment, and areas regularly making contact with workers with sanitizing liquid on a regular basis.

- If themselves or co-workers/customers display any of the following symptoms such as fatigue, fever, coughing, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, etc. or become F0, F1, or F2, restrict contact with surrounding individuals and inform individuals in charge, COVID safety teams, or medical personnel at workplaces.

- Do not discriminate individuals who have completed medical quarantine at workplaces or individuals who must conduct business in infected areas or individuals who have been treated of COVID-19.

For workers working in positions with risks (departments that make physical contact or work with customers).

In addition to general guidelines above, workers must:

- Use appropriate gloves to reduce any unnecessary contact; If gloves are not used, regular wash and wipe hands dry with disposable tissues or handkerchief.

- Employ proper personal protective equipment (including face masks, glasses, gloves, etc.) as per the law in Vietnam.

*For workers who must go on business trips in infected areas

In addition to general guidelines above, workers must:

- Consult information on infected areas on website of Ministry of Health of Vietnam(http://ncov.moh.gov.vn) in order to assess benefits and risks of the trips.

- Conduct SARS-COV-2 test before and after the business trips as per the law.

- Comply with regulations on epidemic management of local governments of destination of business trips.

- Comply with 5K principles.

- During business trips, if workers display any of the symptoms such as fatigue, fever, coughing, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, etc., wear face masks, avoid making contact with surrounding people, inform managers of workers, reach hotline of Departments of Health of provinces or Ministry of Health of Vietnam (phone number 1900 9095) to receive advise, and arrive at the nearest medical facilities in order to receive timely treatment.

- After finishing business trips from infected areas, workers shall comply with regulations of Ministry of Health on SARS-COV-2 testing, monitor their health, perform medical quarantine, etc.
