1. To convert other professional activities into lessons with teachers in Vietnam

To convert other professional activities into lessons with teachers in Vietnam according to Article 11 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDDT (amended in Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDDT) as follows:

- For teachers who teach specialized subjects at specialized schools and specialized classes, 1 period of specialized teaching is equal to 3 normative periods.

- In addition to the main teaching duties in the classroom, teachers must perform professional activities and other activities as assigned by the principal. The conversion of these activities into lessons to calculate the number of teaching hours for each teacher is done as follows:

+ For teachers mobilized as inspection collaborators, the converted working time is calculated according to Circular 31/2014/TT-BGDDT regulating on education inspection collaborators;

+ For teachers who are mobilized to participate in professional guidance, fostering, and training organized by the Department of Education and Training, the Ministry of Education and Training, 1 period of practical instruction, retraining, or training is equal to 1.5 hours of the norm;

Extracurricular reports and creative experiential activities organized by the school for students (with lesson plans, teaching plans, or report outlines), each actual reporting period counts as 1.5 teaching hours quota;

+ The school principal shall, based on the actual situation, stipulate the conversion of teaching periods for other professional jobs after obtaining the consent of the Head of the Department of Education and Training, the Director of the Department of Education and Training, and the Minister of Education and Training according to the decentralization of management for educational institutions.

- Lessons of principals and vice principals shall comply with the following regulations:

+ Teaching the contents of the general and special education programs (if any) for high schools and the curriculum framework for pre-university schools promulgated and guided by the Minister of Education and Training;

+ Ensure the number of lessons in accordance with the regulations on the norm of teaching hours for principals and vice principals as prescribed in Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDT and publicize at the school's annual civil servants and public employees' conference.

2. Regulations on the amount of teaching hours in Vietnam

According to Article 6 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 28/2009/TT-BGDDT (amended in Circular 15/2017/TT-BGDDT, the teaching period norm is the number of theoretical or practical periods each teacher must teach in a week, specifically as follows:

- The norm for primary school teachers is 23 hours, junior high school teachers are 19 hours, high school teachers are 17 hours;

- The norm for teachers of boarding schools for ethnic minorities is 17 periods at the lower secondary level, 15 periods at the upper secondary school level;

The norm of teaching hours for teachers of a semi-boarding high school for ethnic minorities is 21 periods at the primary level, 17 periods at the lower secondary level;

The norm of teaching hours for school teachers, classes for the disabled and disabled is 21 hours for teachers at the primary level, 17 hours for teachers at the lower secondary level.

- The norm for the teaching period of a university preparatory school teacher is 12 hours.

The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team teacher teaches two lessons per week in grade I schools, one-third of the norm in grade II schools, and half of the norm in grade III schools. The classification of high schools according to current regulations.
