Tasks and powers of the Hydro-meteorological Station of the Northern Delta region of Vietnam include:
- Formulate programs, plans, schemes, projects, and tasks on hydrometeorology within the assigned area; implement them after they are approved.
- Guide and inspect the implementation of professional processes, standards, technical regulations, and economic - technical norms on hydrometeorology for affiliated units.
- Regarding the network of hydro-meteorological stations:
+ Construct, manage, and exploit the network of hydrometeorological and environmental stations, monitoring and positioning lightning, and monitoring climate change within the assigned area as assigned by the Director General of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (hereinafter referred to as Director General);
+ Operate, install, repair, and maintain machines, equipment, measuring instruments, hydrometeorological and environmental monitoring works, lightning positioning, and salinity monitoring under their management;
+ Organize the implementation of monitoring, investigation, survey, and quality assessment of the network of meteorological, hydro-meteorological, environmental, and lightning-locating stations under its management;
+ Propose and submit plans to establish, upgrade, downgrade, move, and dissolve hydrometeorological, environmental, and salinity measurement stations within the assigned area; organize the implementation after it is approved;
+ Organize the protection of works and technical corridors of hydrometeorological and environmental works assigned to management;
+ Carry out the calibration of hydrometeorological measuring instruments as assigned by the Director General;
+ Participate in monitoring the operation of hydro-meteorological stations belonging to compulsory monitoring works within the assigned area.
- Regarding hydro-meteorological forecasts and warnings:
+ Establish, operate, and exploit the national hydrometeorological forecasting and warning system at regional and provincial levels; guide the provision and use of information on the forecasting and warning of hydrometeorological disasters within the assigned area;
+ Monitor, synthesize, and report on hydro-meteorological situations and hydro-meteorological disasters within the assigned area;
+ Forecasts and warnings of hydrometeorology, hydrometeorological disasters, and disaster risk levels; promulgate and transmit detailed hydrometeorological forecasts and warnings for the assigned area according to regulations;
+ Guide, inspect, supervise, evaluate, and foster professional hydrometeorological forecasting and warning, of hydrometeorological disasters for the provincial hydrometeorological stations in the assigned area; monitor hydrometeorological forecasting and warning activities of ministries, branches, localities, organizations, and individuals within the assigned area;
+ Participating in monitoring the plan of impacts on weather within the scope of management as assigned by the Director General.
- Regarding hydrometeorological information and data:
+ Store, exploit, and use hydro-meteorological information and data in the assigned area.
+ Participate in the development and exploitation of the national hydro-meteorological database as assigned by the Director General.
+ Receive and use hydrometeorological information and data provided by ministries, branches, localities, organizations, and individuals as assigned by the Director General.
+ Participate in the construction, operation, and exploitation of information systems in service of monitoring, investigation, survey, forecasting, and warning of hydrometeorology, hydro-meteorological disasters within the assigned area.
+ Participate in verifying the use of hydrometeorological observation, investigation, and survey data for works and investment projects as assigned by the Director General.
- Carry out research and application of science and technology in hydrometeorology as assigned by the Director General.
- Participate in the development of the national set of climate standards as assigned by the Director General.
- Propagate and disseminate knowledge and raise public awareness about hydrometeorology in the assigned area according to the provisions of the law.
- Examine and settle complaints and denunciations about hydrometeorology according to their competence.
- Organize the implementation of investment projects in the field of hydrometeorology within the assigned region as assigned by the Director General.
- Carry out hydrometeorological service activities in accordance with the law.
- Implement administrative reform according to the administrative reform program and plan of the General Department; practice thrift; prevent and combat corruption and waste within the scope of its management.
- Manage organizations, officials, employees, finances, and assets under the radio station as decentralized by the General Department; perform the responsibilities of the level III cost estimate unit in accordance with the provisions of law.
- Statistics, periodicals, and irregular reports on the performance of assigned tasks.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the General Director.

Leaders of Hydro-meteorological Station in the Northern Delta region of Vietnam include:
- The Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta region has a Director and no more than 03 Deputy Directors.
- The Director of the Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta region is responsible to the General Director and to the law for the assigned tasks; submits to the Director General for regulations on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the organizations under the Radio; promulgates working regulations; and administers the radio's activities.
- The Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta region assists the Director, is responsible to the Director and to the law for the assigned field of work.
