Below are the regulations regarding latest standards for appointment to the rank of Senior Inspector in Vietnam.

According to Article 41 of the Inspection Law 2022, the standards for appointment to the senior inspector rank are as follows:
- Meet the standards specified in Article 39 of the Inspection Law 2022:
+ Must be an official, an officer of the People's Army, an officer of the People's Public Security, or a cipher worker, unless otherwise specified by the Government of Vietnam for inspectors of an inspection agency established according to the law or an international treaty of which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member, or regulated in Clause 3, Article 9 of the Inspection Law 2022.
+ Loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; possesses good moral character; has a sense of responsibility, integrity, honesty, fairness, and objectivity.
+ Hold a university degree or higher, possess knowledge of state management and an understanding of the law; inspectors in a specific professional field must also have specialized knowledge in that field.
+ Have a training certificate in inspector skills and other certificates as prescribed by law regarding officials and public employees.
+ Have at least 2 years of inspection work experience not counting probationary period or at least 5 years of work experience for officials and public employees, officers of the People's Army, officers of the People's Public Security, or cipher workers in other agencies, organizations, or units transferred to the inspection agency.
- Have a senior inspector training certificate and other certificates as prescribed by law regarding officials and public employees.
- Have held the principal inspector rank or equivalent for at least 6 years.
- Pass the rank promotion exam or be reviewed for promotion from principal inspector to senior inspector, or be reviewed for rank transition according to the law regarding officials and public employees.
According to Article 38 of the Inspection Law 2022, regulations on inspectors and persons assigned to perform inspectorate duties are as follows:
- An inspector is an individual appointed to the inspector rank to perform tasks and exercise authority in inspection activities as prescribed by law.
- The inspector rank includes inspector, principal inspector, and senior inspector.
- A person assigned to perform duties in sector-specific inspection must be an official of the agency tasked with carrying out sector-specific inspection functions, except for public employees in government agencies as prescribed by the Government of Vietnam.
The person assigned to perform sector-specific inspection duties must have the necessary expertise and skills relevant to the sector, a good understanding of the law, inspector skills, and at least 1 year of professional experience in the field they are tasked with inspecting, excluding the probationary period.
- Inspectors and those assigned sector-specific inspection duties must comply with the law, bear responsibility to the head of the direct managing agency, and the law regarding the tasks and authority assigned.
According to Clause 1, Article 42 of the Inspection Law 2022, the dismissal of inspectors occurs in the following cases:
- Retirement, resignation, or transfer of sector;
- Due to health reasons, family circumstances, or other reasons preventing fulfillment of assigned tasks;
- Convicted by court, and verdict or decision has taken legal effect;
- Engaged in prohibited acts as specified in Article 8 of the Inspection Law 2022;
- Failing to complete tasks for 1 year in the appointed rank;
- Engaging in fraudulent conduct during the rank promotion exam or dishonest reporting in the application for appointment to the rank;
- Other cases as prescribed by law regarding officials and public employees.
